skyeman27 Posted July 22, 2012 #1 Share Posted July 22, 2012 Why does the Fantasty out of Charleston stay in the ports of Nassua and Freeport 2 more hours longer at each port than the Fascination out of Jacksonville on 5 night cruises? Looks as if Jacksonville is even closer to the ports...
mj Posted July 22, 2012 #2 Share Posted July 22, 2012 Carnival has been cutting times in port on both Jacksonville and Port Canaveral(used to get almost 24 hrs in Nassau). I suspect that it is an attempt to save on fuel costs by the ship not having to sail as fast and people will be onboard to spend money on the ships at the casino and buy drinks to boost onboard revenue. There have been arguments made that Nassau was charging too much in port taxes and/or that the it was getting dangerous to be in Nassau overnight. I do find it interesting that Charleston gets more port time in Nassau, though. However; it would not surprise me to see them eventually chop time in port for the Fantasy as well. JeffHatfield Posted July 22, 2012 #3 Share Posted July 22, 2012 With Jacksonville, it could be due to the tides and having to go under the Dames Point Bridge timely.
