Grandchildren are close family

I'm looking for a travel insurance policy that classes grandchildren as close family. Any advice would be welcome - and any grandparents reading this might be wise to check their own travel policies.

One of our grandchildren was taken ill while we were on a cruise and we made plans to leave the ship and fly home from the first port-of-call. Fortunately he made a speedy recovery and we didn't need to leave the ship, but on checking my travel insurance policy I discovered we would not have received any recompense if we had abandoned our cruise.

Our own grandparents, grandparents-in-law, even step grandparents were classed as close family under the policy, but not grandchildren.
