Hyena73 Posted August 3, 2012 #1 Share Posted August 3, 2012 Hi, this is my first cruise in 18 years and my wife and families (daughters 4 & 2) first ever. We are really needing a good family break and I couldn't face kids and planes. As such I've booked the above quad extended balcony for Spirits inaugural trip out of Sydney on 20 October. Any feedback on the cabin would be great. Thanks

serene56 Posted August 16, 2012 #3 Share Posted August 16, 2012 http://www.travelingnuts.com/2011cruise/images/DSCN0188.JPG this is the best cabin for 4 people. its 6232 for now your cabin is a standard balcony. small and narrow. lifeboats are below you so you can not look directly into the waters. http://www.travelingnuts.com/2011cruise/images/DSCN0186.JPG there is an upper bed and a convertible sofa- with the ages of your kids they could both sleep on the sofa one at each end-- it is not the pull out kind. But our 5 year old loved the upper bed. there is a railing http://www.travelingnuts.com/2011cruise/images/DSCN0242.JPG
mali06 Posted August 19, 2012 #4 Share Posted August 19, 2012 We had an extended balcony on the Spirit last July to Alaska and it was huge! We had two lounge chairs and 4 regular chairs and a table and could have easily added 4 more chairs. We had 11 people in our group and we had several parties with all of them there. They all drifted in and out while we were at sea and in the fjords and we always had tons of room. It was the best choice ever! We were very protected from the wind yet had lots of room and great views. Have fun!

Hyena73 Posted August 20, 2012 Author #6 Share Posted August 20, 2012 there are different extended balconies on this class of ship- the cabin the OP has will be no where what you have had. Thanks for the tips everyone. I will keep them in mind for next time. All quads now booked. With 2 young girls I think for this cruise a smaller balcony where I can watch them easier is better.
