Jiffymom Posted August 4, 2012 #1 Share Posted August 4, 2012 We are going to rent a car in Miami. Drive to the Keys then return the car in Ft Lauderdale on our cruise day. Do you know if they have a fee which includes the sun pass so we can drive to Key West? Do they charge to return to Ft Lauderdale. I would ask the car agency just have not decided who has the best rates It's pretty far out now

I would ask the car agency just have not decided who has the best rates It's pretty far out now All of the major car rental agencies can set you up with a Sun Pass -- usually they charge you $2-3/day up to a max of $10 per rental, plus the costs of your tolls. Most of the agencies do not have a drop fee for rentals between FLA locations :D, but you may not always qualify for some of the very cheap rates with a one way rental. :( Your best bet is to do a search using your favorite travel web site, and then drill down with any discount codes you find. In KW try to eat at El Siboney, a casual family run Cuban place I have been enjoying for over 30 years. Good luck! :)

miamiyogi Posted August 6, 2012 #4 Share Posted August 6, 2012 If you rent with Dollar/Thrifty/Sunshine/Royal. You will have to pay $6.99-$7.49 per day for tolls. All tolls are included and the rate is charged for the length of rental. If you do not opt in and go through a toll you will be charged a $25.00 penalty per infraction. YOU MUST DECIDE AT TIME OF RENTAL TO OPT IN OR BE SUBJECT TO THE ADMINISTRATIVE FEE If you rent Hertz/Advantage/Avis/Budget You will pay $2.95 only on days you use a toll. Plus the actual toll. Its automatic, you don't need to do anything at the time of rental. If you rent National/Alamo/Enterprise You pay $2.00 only on days you use a toll, plus actual tolls. You don't need to do anything at time of rental. You will not have tolling once you enter the Keys.
