Hi Neville. you got me there. What is LCt? Can you paste a link?

If you really want to see all of the different national traits polarised, you should be in a SAS Raddisson when it catches fire and see how the different nationalities respond to the alarm. And the pompiers sapeurs .........

Now that was a night ..............

Sorry John, missed your question.

But it certainly raises an interesting conundrum. If you were me, and had experienced what I had experieinced, which impairment would you have chosen if forced to choose one. Oral, aural or visual - or which combination!

Glad I caused Amanda to laugh on her way to work. If we can make each other laugh then we all have something to be going on with!

Jeff

Hi Jeff, Aural would probably have been the choice, but you ommited to tell us about Touch ,Taste and Smell !!!

P.S. I can't believe that Amanda drives herself to work (the shops) she surely must be Chauffeur Driven !!

uk1 I tried to find you on the Shadow by looking for "Jeff" from the U.K. I found one and left a message. However I posted a report and would like to compare. Yours is excellent. As a Brit. and a Canadian living in Florida, I have found that your comparisons are to the point.

We moved about on our self planned excursions with a very tall, stocky, bald chap from Hampshire. His wife is like mine. Short and blonde.

We had a cruisecritic sign hanging from 611. e-mail imiglaw71@aol.com

Hi Neviboy, Don't you know that Jeff is really the Captain!!!

Twinkly - You sound like quite the wardrobe veteran here, so tell me - those cocktail dresses (any of the 10 of 'em!)...will they be worn on formal evenings? And can you give me any idea of what "informal" constitutes? (Yes, I know this has been beaten to death on other threads, but I'm still confused. And glad that Twinkly has brought it up again!) Thanks!

Im hardly the wardrobe expert and this is my first cruise actually, I prefer to 'dress for dinner' and informal dress isnt me im afraid.

I am taking 3 full length and several calf length. My formal are (dare i say it) 'beaded' and I havent been put off by any negative comments I have read about women in beaded dresses - each to their own!

The cocktail dresses are mixture of black and coloured numbers some floaty - so I will see what mood takes me.

Hi Amanda, good for you to dress for dinner ,we are the same.I have been on forty nine cruises so far,and I have noticed the standards slipping, so it will be lovely to see the "Beads". The Floaty dress will come in handy if the ship goes down!!

The difference between formal and informal for men is that on informal evenings the shirt is worn without dress studs and the difference for ladies is that on informal evenings the hair is not worn up!!

I hope that is clear for the great unwashed :p

Jeff, my husband and I were also on the Shadow for this cruise, and after reading your rendition, I wonder if we were on the same ship! We had superb service in the main dining room. As far as your criticism of the staff being too pleasant by saying "good morning" more than once...not sure what would make you happy. We were totally unaware of whiners and whingers...til now

Alice, we may have met you somewhere on the ship . We were in 611 and played putting every day. I wrote a diary in ****************.com which described our first experience with SS. I don't think that we could sail on any other line than Silverseas or Radisson. The cruise director could have done a lot more to mingle with people and help those shy passengers. He was hardly around. A very aloof bloke.

Alice, thanks for your comments about my "rendition" as you put it, and for expressing an alternative view.

This may be a shock to you, but it's quite possible and indeed common for two different people to shop at the same shop or cruise on the same cruise or eat at the same restaurant and have entirely different experiences. In fact it would be improbable if it were not to happen. I promise you that it doesn't make me wrong and you right as you imply - just that we either have different standards and expectations and/or had different experiences.

So far as "the criticism of the staff", to correct you, I think most others were able to see that I went to some trouble NOT to criticise the staff as you suggest, - quite the reverse actually, I think I talked of them with a degree of tenderness which I certainly felt - but I criticised their training which I think is often overly fussy and puts uneccessary strains on them. Again, I'm entitled to feel that way and express the view.

I think most other people reading my posts were able to sense my humour which I didn't think was overly subtle, and I'm sorry that clearly missed the mark with you. The great thing about the net is that it's optional!

A suggestion. I've recorded my experiences, why not take the trouble to write a comprehensive review of your alternative experiences? I'm sure it would be received gratefully and enthusiastically and I'm looking forward to reading it.

Nevi,

Were you the the chap playing daily with the portly black gentleman with the lovely wife?

I agree with your comments about the CD, although it's a great relief when they don't do the "good morning campers" bit. I also agree, we wouldn't sail with another line even though I have been overdosed on "good morning"!

No, jeff.I am afraid that I did not do too much exercising of anything. So was not with this chap. My wife is a small blonde who frequented the casino. I usually wore a Man. Utd. golf cap on private excursions. And we were always having cocktails in the panorama bar with a group of about 10 or so, mostly Brits. and Canadians.

You suggested to the board member that an opinion of the cruise be written. I did this but on another board. It has a different 'slant' than yours, but it did give future cruisers the thought that if one blinked a few times they could be on a Radisson ship !

No, Jeff, I liked yours better. You must have written scripts for the Monty Python series. It is now a situation of "After you, Claude. No. After you Cecil."

We must meet on a cruise, in the future.

Tomorrow, at 9 a.m. EST. I will be yelling for Man. Utd. in my favourite pub in Ft. Lauderdale. Glad that you found that board.
