ellruss Posted May 15, 2005 #1 Share Posted May 15, 2005 I am planning a whale watching cruise out of either Juneau or Icy Strait Point in early June. Does anyone know whether morning or afternoon tends to have more sightings?
MaryEllen1952 Posted May 15, 2005 #2 Share Posted May 15, 2005 You might contact the whale watching company you plan to use as to the best time. I have been whalewatching in San Juan Islands in Washington State and done it both in the a.m. and the p.m. however the p.m. sea is much rougher. pappy3393 Posted May 15, 2005 #3 Share Posted May 15, 2005 It really doesn't matter. The humpbacks are there all of the time (Juneau). Oracs come through on occassion.
Host Caroline Posted May 15, 2005 #4 Share Posted May 15, 2005 If you are planning other than ship tour you should book NOW ... ship tours also fill up fast.. whale watching is very popular .. tours in Juneau are offered from morning till evening. Boobaby Posted May 15, 2005 #5 Share Posted May 15, 2005 Captain Larry at Orca Enterprises told me that time of day doesn't make any difference.
