Illyria Posted August 10, 2012 #2 Share Posted August 10, 2012 Hurricane season isn't determined per country or per island, so I'm not sure what you're asking. Atlantic hurricane season officially started on June 1, although there was some tropical storm activity as early as May. It's scheduled to end on Nov. 30, with the peak of the season being Sep. 10. Other than that, it's too unpredictable - even with a development of any specific tropical storm, scientists often don't know until the last minute whether it's going to change course, get stronger and turn into a hurricane, or do the opposite and dissipate instead. Right now they are predicting roughly 10-12 more named storms until the end of the season. Even a small correction in the course of any given storm can mean that one island avoids its wrath entirely while an island close by gets drenched in 3 feet of rain. ChrisB123 Posted August 10, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted August 10, 2012 sorry, I didn't make myself clear. :o I just mean Atlantic, Pacific, North, South. Not a spot on the map, just a general location. Is the Atlantic season about the same as the Pacific?
Rare maxandmolly Posted August 10, 2012 #4 Share Posted August 10, 2012 We're coming into the prime time of hurricane season, and especially in the Carrribean area. This time if year they don't all form off the coast of Africa, systems can form right within the Carribean or Gulf. The coast of Africa also generally gets more active this time of year as well.
