lopat08865 Posted August 11, 2012 #1 Share Posted August 11, 2012 "Located at the southeast corner of Front Street and Market Street in downtown Grand Turk, the new Welcome Center will encompass a cluster of buildings totaling more than 23,000 square feet of air-conditioned space, including a restaurant/lounge, various shopping outlets, and a tourist information office. Construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year (2011)." Anybody know if this is built and operational? NCTribeFan Posted August 17, 2012 #3 Share Posted August 17, 2012 The one by Margaritaville would be the Cruise Ship Center. This map of historic downton... http://www.grandturkcc.com/islandinformation/map---historic-downtown.aspx ...shows a location for Tourist Information at Market & Front streets, so that makes me think that it may be open. I won't be there until the end of October, and I'm not sure I'll be in town. You could always send an email to the address at the bottom of this page... http://www.grandturkcc.com/islandinformation/fact-sheet.aspx
theverro Posted August 17, 2012 #4 Share Posted August 17, 2012 If you look at google maps satellite, there appears to be a building in the same spot where the Grand Turk map is showng the "tourist information" centre. So my guess would be yes that it's up and running.
islandhop2009 Posted August 17, 2012 #5 Share Posted August 17, 2012 NCTribeFan - You are exactly correct. The Welcome Center is in town and Margaritaville is at the cruise center (south end of the island). The Welcome Center is diagonally across the street from the Tourist Board. The Welcome Center has been built, but to my knowledge, no tenants are operating in the Welcome Center as yet.
