R. Harvey Posted August 15, 2012 #1 Share Posted August 15, 2012 Has amyone flown to the US from Dubai on Emirates....we will be staying overnight in Dubai and would like to stay at the Airport. The hotel in Terminal 3 is for Emirates airline passengers. Can we check in our baggage the day before our flight? It would be so nice not to have to check in our luggage on the day of flight after checking it with us in the hotel and then schlepping it to the airline check in. HELP! Miss Jet Set Posted August 15, 2012 #3 Share Posted August 15, 2012 Beware - we made the mistake of booking the Emirates Hotel at the airport as we had a very early flight the following morning. However once you and your luggage go through the door you cannot leave the hotel till you board your fllight no matter which day or time. We had prepaid the Hotel but we had to find another one as we were not going to be held prisioner for a day and a night. We had disemberked at 8.30a.m. looking forward to a day in Dubai, it was 13.30p.m. before we finally got rebooked elsewhere. The airline itself is great. Flamin_June Posted August 15, 2012 #4 Share Posted August 15, 2012 There are plenty of good hotels very close to the airport, taxis are plentiful and inexpensive. Taxi drivers all have a good working english. I have been to Dubai on 7 different occasions and have never encountered traffic delays on way to the airport. Unless you have an early flight, why not stay at a good hotel with pool and fine restaurant, where you can go for a stroll in the evening if you wish. Many hotels offer a limousine pick up/drop off service, if you want to do it in style. Checking in at Dubai Airport is very straightforward and easy, very rarely will you encounter long lines or crowds. There are also self-service check-in points, with helpful assistants, so the whole thing is pretty stress-free. The airport is designed to get you airside pronto so you have more time to spend shopping. If you are going business class the Emirates Lounge is a treat. If not, there is a private lounge for a small fee, which is good value, has complementary warm food, snacks, drinks and so on and is quiet and comfortable.
