JUST WANTED TO LET EVERYONE KNOW ABOUT A GREAT DEAL FOR CRUISERS LOOKING FOR A BEACH DAY WHILE IN MONTEGO BAY. FOR $20.00 PER PERSON, YOU CAN GO TO THE SUNSET BEACH RESORT AND SPA. PRICE INCLUDES EVERYTHING EXCEPT A ROOM - FOOD, DRINKS, LOUNGE CHAIR, WATER FLOATS, 3 POOLS, ETC. I DO HOWEVER SUGGEST BRINGING ALONG WATER SHOES TO GO IN AND OUT OF THE WATER SINCE IT WAS VERY ROCKY. OTHER THAN THAT, IT WAS A GREAT DAY AND ONLY A $5.00 TAXI RIDE FROM THE PIER.

Hi Donna,

Was wondering about that club. Were you able to pay when you got there, or did you email the resort before you left on your cruise and had it arranged prior to your arrival?

Also, how was the food and what was available? Did I read your post correctly? Everything was included EXCEPT for a room?

Let me know and thanks!
Michele

WE PAID WHEN WE GOT THERE. I DON'T EVEN THINK THAT THEY ACCEPT RESERVATIONS FOR THE DAY. YES, EVERYTHING WAS INCLUDED EXCEPT A ROOM. THE FOOD AVAILABLE INCLUDED HAMBURGERS, CHICKEN, GRILLED CHEESE, FRENCH FRIES, ETC. AT THE GRILL AND THEN THE RESTAURANT (BUFFET) OPENED ABOUT NOON AND THAT INCLUDED SALADS, FISH, SANDWICHES, POTATOES, VEGGIES, DESERTS. ALL OF THAT AND DRINKS - SODA AND ALCOHOL! IT WAS WELL WORTH THE $20.00 SINCE WE HEARD FROM OTHER PEOPLE ON THE SHIP THAT OTHER ALL-INCLUSIVES IN THE AREA WANTED AS MUCH AS $75 PP

Thanks for the info Donna. Just a few more questions. Was the food decent? Was it crowded with passengers from the ship. Did you tip at the club or was there a "no tipping" policy?

Thanks for your help!
Michele

WE ONLY SAW A FEW OTHER PEOPLE FROM THE SHIP (THE CARIBBEAN PRINCESS). WE SAW 3 GIRLS WITH TOWELS FROM THE SHIP, SHARED A TAXI BACK WITH ANOTHER COUPLE, AND THERE WAS A COUPLE WHO GOT MARRIED ON THE BEACH WHO WERE THERE WITH A FEW OTHER CRUISE PASSENGERS. WE WERE THERE EASTER WEEK AND WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT THE HOTEL ITSELF WOULD BE CROWDED BUT IT WASN'T BAD. THERE SEEMED TO BE A LOT OF PEOPLE CHECKING OUT AND THE LOBBY WAS A LITTLE CROWDED WHILE THEY WAITED FOR TRANSPORTATION. AS FOR THE FOOD, THE CHICKEN AND FISH WERE VERY GOOD, THE REST WAS PRETTY NORMAL. ALL IN ALL, AN EXCELLENT DEAL THAT I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Were the pools nice? And did you feel safe there and with catching the taxies back and forth?

Thanks!

Until my FIRST cruise!!

THE POOLS LOOKED VERY NICE (WE SPENT MOST OF THE TIME AT THE BEACH). THEY ARE QUITE LARGE. THE HOTEL IS VERY SAFE. THERE IS A SECURITY GATE AND ONLY THOSE PEOPLE STAYING AT THE HOTEL OR THERE FOR THE DAY WERE ADMITTED. WE MADE ARRANGEMENTS WITH THE TAXI DRIVE WE TOOK FROM THE PIER TO PICK US UP. HE WAS THERE RIGHT ON TIME. YOU CAN GO TO WWW.SUNSETBEACHRESORT.COM TO SEE PICTURES.

I talked to someone in reservations today and they said you do not have to have reservations to spend the day there and use their beach/pool. Just show up at the resort and pay the $20. She said to ask at the excursion desk on the ship and they should also have info. She said you do need to bring your ship boarding pass and identification.
The resort is located very close to the port. You can see it from the ship she said. Not sure if you can walk though. Hope this helps, if not the number is 1-876-979-8800 (Not toll-free so use a phone card b/c the rate is usually cheaper to Jamaica.)
