scubagirrl Posted January 9, 2013 #126 Share Posted January 9, 2013 Thanks Scuba girl I'm going in Feb the first week and we will stop in Nassau from 7am til 1159pm so I got a room at THE COVE so i will have access to the cove beach. You don't have to be a guest of the COVE to use Cove Beach, CAIN POOL and the pool between the Cove and Reef are the only areas restricted. Paradise Beach chairs are for Cove guests only, but use of these chairs doesnt warrant an expensive room. I've been to the Atlantis a few times so they comp my room. I'm only charged the tax, and energy fee and grauity. MY host did not ask how many will be at in the room since he knows I'm only going to be there for my cruise ship stop. So will they limit the braclets to just 2 or 4? The room is for 2 ppl.. so you would have to pay an add'l charge to add others. (the max is 4 ppl to a room). DOn't know the per person charge, but that would also raise the tax, fees and surcharges for the room as well. 2 bracelet would be all you get per room, unless you pay for add'l persons. Since I'm going to be there on a Cruise ship day I figured it is better to book THE COVE since they limit the people access to The Cove beach so it will be less crowed. Cruisers on Beach passes are not supposed to use COve Beach, but other tower guests use it. It can get crowded when the surf is rough, since it's the only beach that is swimmable. I wouldn't set my heart of an uncrowded experience. Luckily, the 1st week of Feb is still pretty much off season I'm taking my Niece and Sister in law who has never been. DW and I go every year but we fly in and stay the 4-5 days, so don't know about the how many they give out since there is only the two of us that go. As I said.. Base room rate is for 2 ppl only.. so you would only get 2 bracelets. and my Niece might want to do the dolphin encounter. I don't think the one at atlantis is all that great ( guess since they comp it I got the cheap one) is the one at Blue lagoon better? Yes, the one at Blue Lagoon is better. Better programs, natural setting and the lagoon beach is nicer than Cove Beach. Thanks in advance. Also after SANDY hit is everything back to normal now? Yes, Sandy really didn't do too much damage, except to Saunders Beach, which was washed away. Still some erosion on the natural beaches, but mother nature is taking care of that as well. Personally, if you are looking for a beach day, I'd book Blue lagoon, the water in the lagoon will be calmer and warmer than the COVE in february. www.dolphinencounters.com
Candleonwater Posted January 12, 2013 #127 Share Posted January 12, 2013 As a visitor from a cruise ship (on the Beach day excursion), what are my beach options? Last time they walked us through, and then to a beach to the right. The vendors were a bit aggressive, and I would like a little quieter beach... FunInTheSun4Me Posted January 14, 2013 #128 Share Posted January 14, 2013 This is the one excursion my daughter wants to do, but the reviews on here are less than stellar. We will be in Nassau 6/6/13 and for almost $200 a person I guess I really expect to have a good time - ride the slides multiple times, enjoy the lazy river, etc. I am not so sure about booking it now... Sani Posted January 15, 2013 #129 Share Posted January 15, 2013 My wife and I booked the "Discover Atlantis & Beach Break" through NCL for our upcoming Epic cruise. Two questions: 1) Is it possible to take a cab instead of waiting (for quite a while, from what I understand) for the ship-sponsored shuttle vans? I understand that there are a lot of cabs waiting at the port, but I assume I need to present some sort of documentation of our reservation when we get to Atlantis, so will taking a cab work? I don't want to show up at Atlantis and not be let in because I didn't come with the group like I was supposed to. 2) Is there a cheaper option than the ship-based shore excursion if we want to wander around the aquarium and shops? We aren't interested in the aquaventure or beaches, necessarily. We'd mainly like to wander through the aquarium and maybe stop in some shops and a bar or restaurant. I'd prefer to look around on my own rather than be guided on a tour, though.
Candleonwater Posted January 15, 2013 #130 Share Posted January 15, 2013 Granted it was Royal Caribbean, but we got our wristbands as we got off the ship, so I don't see why you couldn't get it and hop in a taxi.

You are free to explore at your own pace. Be sure to walk over to the Predator Lagoon - you'll be able to see more of the hotel grounds. There is at least one shop and a bar in the lobby area. I'm not sure if you'd have access to any restaurants. But the Marina Village next door has shops and restaurants that are open to the public. It's worth walking over just to see the huge boats. Not all tour guides do it this way. Some give out bracelets after the initial tour.. at the Atlantis.. which would require you to go with the group. You could ask in advance if they could give you your bracelets early. But they don't have to.. and most often do not.

I guess it's like anywhere else - rules are subject to change without notice. :)

Does anyone know - does the basic Discover package give you access to roam ALL of the property - lobbies, etc.? Except the beach and water slides obviously... I guess it's like anywhere else - rules are subject to change without notice. :) I was responding to whether or not you could get your wristband at the cruise dock from the cruise director and going ahead of the pack via taxi . You are correct that if you purchase your pass at Atlantis, you can head into the exhibit/aquarium without a guide.

Another plus for doing it on your own instead of through the cruise ship.

lovetotravel1965 Posted February 10, 2013 #139 Share Posted February 10, 2013 I was wondering if someone could tell me exactly where it is that you enter Atlantis once you have what your passes from Comfort Suites and about how long it takes to walk over there from CS. Thanks.
Nudetypist Posted February 11, 2013 #140 Share Posted February 11, 2013 Does anyone know if you have to be good swimmers to enjoy this water park? I'm a weak swimmer but can float and paddle for a minute or so. Will that be a problem with this park? Thanks.

I don't think so - the "Lazy River" is not so lazy, but, you'll have an innertube - just hang on!! It's really fun! You should do it!

No jewelry, buttons, snaps or zippers. Nothing that could potentially scratch the slide. I doubt they would allow a waterproof camera on the slides if it's hard plastic.. I have seen a few on the current (lazy river). but there are rough spots, so make sure it has a strap. Small rings, like wedding bands are allowed. ginadis2002 Posted February 17, 2013 #149 Share Posted February 17, 2013 Any parasailing at Atlantis? Surfing? Sunfishing equipment? I am looking for reliable operators and websites as well as price quotes. I have a water rat who loves the slides....and the ocean. I'm beginning to think it doesn't have to be Atlantis. Any thoughts?
