dazza74 Posted April 29, 2013 #4626 Share Posted April 29, 2013 Did Breakaway do three 180 turns after leaving the port, going thru the canal??? Yes
dazza74 Posted April 29, 2013 #4627 Share Posted April 29, 2013 They had some open staterooms last night. Here is the balcony in deck 11 Aft.
dazza74 Posted April 29, 2013 #4628 Share Posted April 29, 2013 And here is deck 12 Aft. It was the disabled room they had open and the balcony was massive but I took some pics over the barrier into the other rooms. Hope no one was in them lol. So it looks like 12 is massive but 11 also looks big enough for me. I'm on 10 for the TA so similar size as 11 I hope.
CruisingSwedes Posted April 29, 2013 #4629 Share Posted April 29, 2013 Any pictures of the bowling lanes? At one point I heard they weren't going to have them, then I heard that they were, but they would be of some "smaller" variety. The most recent post I read (on a blog) was that it was "ten-pin" bowling, which from what I understand is traditional bowling. ?? Tom They do have two small bowling lanes in O'Sheehan''s. You have to pay to use them. No one was on them when I walked by. I took a picture on my regular camera so I can't post it right now.
CruisingSwedes Posted April 29, 2013 #4630 Share Posted April 29, 2013 Either some of that NY strip has already been eaten (does not appear that way), or it's the smallest I've seen. Perhaps it's 1/2 a NY strip? Either way though... YUMMY !!! :) Tom Ha ha ha this is what I had for dinner last night in the main dining room. Surf and turf. It was the smallest steak I've ever seen. I think it was maybe a 2 in.². It was kind of ridiculous. But very good :-)
CruisingSwedes Posted April 29, 2013 #4631 Share Posted April 29, 2013 Look who I got to hang out with last night! The CEO of NCL Kevin Sheehan! He was very nice and friendly. He alao introduced me to the dancers from the show burn the floor. That show was really great I thought. I gave them a standing ovation.
CruisingSwedes Posted April 29, 2013 #4632 Share Posted April 29, 2013 Freestyle daily. Sorry that the edges are cut off – they weren't on my monitor when I took the picture with my phone because I was thinking about that. Anyway hope someone get some information that they might need or want :-)
CruisingSwedes Posted April 29, 2013 #4633 Share Posted April 29, 2013 Here's my ocean view room. It had brand-new car smell in it :-). Guess it hasn't been used by anyone before because even the soap dispensers hadn't been used.
CruisingSwedes Posted April 29, 2013 #4634 Share Posted April 29, 2013 Here's some photos from Carlos bakery. There are actually 2 - one is on the eighth floor and then one in the atrium. I had my first cannoli! The woman there told me you can not get custom cakes. As in you can not get those big ones or anything on the show. They only have the regular cakes that are on display and then they'll write your name on it. Yum!
shaun07 Posted April 29, 2013 #4635 Share Posted April 29, 2013 thank you Micm. I very much enjoyed reading that. Quick question for you or anyone else who was onboard. Did you notice if there are a lot of smoking areas and how was it in the casino
shaun07 Posted April 29, 2013 #4636 Share Posted April 29, 2013 Sorry, as a non smoker I did not look for any smoking areas. When I got near the casino I got the impression that the smell of the air changed. Not sure if it was from cigarette smoke or something else, it did not bother me. Thanks for the quick reply. I love the photos too. The cut out in the floor to see down to the water is very cool. karl_nj Posted April 29, 2013 #4639 Share Posted April 29, 2013 One night is by far to short to make up your mind but here are some notes I took during the cruise that might be useful. Very personal opinion and views included. YMMV If the wifi in the hotel does what it should soon have pictures here including a bucn of pics of studio 10537: http://s1282.photobucket.com/user/micm82/library/NCL%20Breakaway%20-%20Rotterdam%20to%20Southampton?sort=3&page=1 Thanks for posting your thoughts and the photos! Highboy90 Posted April 29, 2013 #4641 Share Posted April 29, 2013 - Below the waterfront outside on deck 7 are nice places to watch the sea when you walk past the life boats to the end. Can one walk around the entire deck 7? - The waterfront is still great but the position of the lifeboats really s***. Guess we should be happy that they have lifeboats but even when sitting down there they are still very visible. The waterfront was one of the more interesting "sale" points for me. Since my booking, the more I looked, the more I read, the more I see, the less I like. But, that is ME. Thank you for the pics and comments Micm. :)
SliceOfLife Posted April 29, 2013 #4642 Share Posted April 29, 2013 - There are hammocks on the top deck all the way forward port side and lots of other comfortable seating. Is that area for anyone to use? Also, fantastic pictures!! I see the Ocean Blue menu looks the same as the one that was posted here a few days ago but was taken down. Thanks for sharing :D
gambee's_mom Posted April 29, 2013 #4643 Share Posted April 29, 2013 One night is by far to short to make up your mind but here are some notes I took during the cruise that might be useful. Very personal opinion and views included. YMMV - Overall the ship is beautiful, very elegant and nothing really looked out of place. - 678 ocean place around Le Bistro is the most beautiful part of the ship. - The "new " Bliss is awesome. I love the design and the music sounded powerful, although I am no expert at that. - Fat Cats and Headliners are already known from the Epic and did not seem to have changed much. I believe they are a bit more stretched now. Both places were packed yesterday and the crowds seem to have had lots of fun. Did not stay long at either place. - The atrium cafe was lacking the self service coffee and tea corner, not sure if it will be set up the next cruises. - Le Bistro terrace inside and lots of the specialty dining outside areas are probably not optimal for a quiet dinner. Lots of people walking by, standing around, taking pictures. - I had dinner in Savor, nice decor and a great table at an elevated platform for two at the far end. It was a very intimate and relaxing atmosphere and a fabulous service. I think splitting up Taste and Savor was a nice idea and make both places not so big, loud and hectic. - The layout and design of the Garden Cafe is stunning. So light and joyful. It has no cafeteria atmosphere at all. - In the library the sound of Fire and Ice performing in the atrium was still very loud. So it is no quiet place when there are events in the atrium. - The breakaway theater looked much smaller than expected. Comfortable seating, although I believe the seats are a bit smaller than in other theatres like those on Jade and Epic. - Burn the floor was better than expected, enough fast paced parts preventing me from falling asleep. Definitively entertaining even for those not interested in dancing. And the music was played live on the stage. - Below the waterfront outside on deck 7 are nice places to watch the sea when you walk past the life boats to the end. - The waterfront is still great but the position of the lifeboats really s***. Guess we should be happy that they have lifeboats but even when sitting down there they are still very visible. - On the waterfront in front of tradewinds is a lot of space, hopefully the will put some loungers and chairs there on the regular cruises. - H2O looks smaller as well and has lost the several levels with loungers. Probably have to wait for sunny days to see how that works out. The water falls look refreshing. - The area for the band stand near the pool made a bitof a secluded impression. - The haven courtyard looked so nice. Glad for those that can afford it. - There are hammocks on the top deck all the way forward port side and lots of other comfortable seating. - After trying to see everything in a short time there is a good chance your feet and legs hurt like mine now. The distances and stairs add up over time. I stayed in a studio cabin. Sadly the studio lounge was not really operational, I had to ask guest services at 5pm to get some pastries delivered. Looked like there still are some technical glitches. - The shower has a real door not any more this folding hardly working imitation of a door - You can comfortable walk in the space between bed and TV - The new do not disturb LED, controllable from your room are such an improvement - 4 US and 2 EU power outlets - They got rid of the mood lighting - Only 4 hangers in the closet. Should be easy to correct if you ask. - The safe seems to get smaller and smaller every time. Espcially useless as there is not the whole depth used - The washbasin is way to small to even wash your face. I was so glad that I did not book a studio for the TA. Probably same sice as in the Epic studio but that was the chance to do it right this time. Especially since everyone is bringing more and more valuable electronic devices with them. - The lounge is much smaller than on the Epic and I have not seen any gadget like the interactive TV where you could choose the music played. I hope they will add some nice touches to it, at the moment it is rather bland and boring. - From the fwd staircases the nearest door to the studio area is hard to spot, there is signage but the first times I always missed it and walked to the other end. And probably a lot more I forgot to note. If the wifi in the hotel does what it should soon have pictures here including a bucn of pics of studio 10537: http://s1282.photobucket.com/user/micm82/library/NCL%20Breakaway%20-%20Rotterdam%20to%20Southampton?sort=3&page=1 View from the hotel room now: Thank you. shaun07 Posted April 29, 2013 #4646 Share Posted April 29, 2013 I can't believe with all these videos of suites and other cabins that not one blogger has done a video on one of the damn M6 balconies. Talk about the red headed stepchild of Breakaway staterooms, lol. Major oversight on the part of the these people touring the ship, IMO. Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2 This is all I could find. Its not great but givse you an idea of the size. HUGE!!

Highboy90 Posted April 29, 2013 #4648 Share Posted April 29, 2013 No :-(To go from portside to starboard side you have to go through the inside again. That's what I thought. BIG bummer. Was hoping there was a "tunnel" in front such as on the NCL Jewel. :( It really is not bad and you ignore it pretty quick. But when you have the initial renderings in mind it is a ***?!? moment if you were not aware of the changes. I think we are both on the same page here. Deal breaker? Of course not. A let down from the intial renderings? Yes.
