Maho village questions

St. Martin is a new port for us so we are a little nervous. We already have beach days planned at other ports so we would like to visit Maho Village. This is the entertainment complex where Casino Royale is correct? After reading other posts I believe the taxi will be $18 each way. Is this a shared bus type vehicle or a taxicab type car. How long of a ride should we expect from philipsburg to Maho. Where would we be dropped off and how available are the taxis for the return trip? Thanks for any help.

I can tell you that its almost exactly 8 miles, so even in traffic it shouldn't take too long.

I don't know anything about Maho Village but there are LOTS of taxis cruising back and forth by the airport beach, which is just a few blocks away, looking for airplane fans heading back to their ships. So if you can't find a cab in the Village you can always walk to the beach at the end of the runway.

 

All of the cabs I saw were little mini-vans and it cost about $9 to get back to the port since you share the ride with others. It only took about 1/2 hour when I was there in April, but I've heard it can take longer depending on traffic.

I think we are going to head over to see the planes and then on to the casino for a bit. I have some friends who have a condo in the area and stated it all within walking distance, I mean the bar near the planes landing and the casino.
