Tookie Posted August 22, 2012 #1 Share Posted August 22, 2012 Could anyone explain to me why Azamara wants a 2200 dollar deposit that carries penalties for cancelling?I am trying to decide between Oceania for a 750 dollar deposit that is fully refundable and and includes air to the Quest to the Carribean. Thanks.

Thanks. Hi Tookie, I presume you are booking a Suite ? If so, it's $1,100 per person. If you are not booking a Suite, the deposit is $550 per person. BTW, on Oceania, many Suite deposits (Owners Suite, Vista Suite & Oceania Suite) is 20% of the Cruise fare. I believe the PH Suites are $750 deposit. As for cancellation fees, yes, there's a $25 per person cancel fee. It's not unreasonable, considering the work that is required. As they carry less than 700 Guests, I'm sure they want bookings from guests who are serious about sailing with them. My guess is, the small cancel fee, deters what I call lookie-loo's... folks who love to book 10 cruises at a time, and later cancel 9 of them. From what Im hearing, this is a issue with all Cruise lines.
