t60 Posted August 24, 2012 #1 Share Posted August 24, 2012 Hi everyone, Just discovered we´ll be in Sydney for Good Friday and Easter Sunday next year. Here is Spain, everywhere closes on Good Friday and shops aren´t open any Sunday anyway, whereas in UK it´s justthe opposite with shops etc being open all the time (although some restrictions on opening time on Sundays) What happens in Sydney please? Mum81 Posted August 24, 2012 #2 Share Posted August 24, 2012 Hi, Most shops will be shut Good Friday (except for service (gas) stations). Everything will be open every other day over Easter.:)

cjm66 Posted August 24, 2012 #4 Share Posted August 24, 2012 Good Friday -shops generally closed, some small family run or tourist / souvenir shops may open in tourist precincts. The Zoo will be open and ferries will be running if you want a cheap harbour cruise - a reduced timetable of course. On Sunday more opens, most tourist attractions will be running, including the Rocks markets. Hard to tell which shops will open. In 2012, David Jones city store opened but Westfield and the Queen Victoria Building were closed. Could change. Restaurants and bars vary and those that rely on city workers will close. The Bridge Climb is running on Sunday but not on Good Friday. Suggest you do some Googling closer to the time to check on what will be open in 2013. It is too soon for these dates to be up. There is always the Easter Show - if you enjoy agricultural shows, exhibits, farm animals, wood chopping, ring events and the usual carnival attractions and takeaway food. The food has improved. The show is open all Easter weekend. Catch a train at Central Station to Olympic Park for the Show. Cheers. Colleen
