gate 1 danube river cruise

but from others it depends on the ship they rent...ours was older and for some reason it kept the upper deck closed most of cruise(they said due to bridge height) but others seemed to have no problem.maybe newer ones are not as tall???

If price is main concern,,,would rather go for cheaper cabin on better boat..but just MY OPINION>better to go on Gate than NOT GO...always a tradeoff.

But would NOT go on again,,,maybe we just had a random bad experience? Food, cabin, service are good,,,not really great...but HEY you DO get to see the ports,,etc...;)

Alexandra, which ship were you on? I thought all Gate 1 cruises were on Luftner cruises and I was under the impression that these are nice ships. Was it just the problem with the top deck being closed or did you have other things you didn't like?

but was 4 yrs.ago and did the Danube from Nuremburg to Amsterdam,

It was mainly the top deck not open that bothered me..since limited space to view scenery,,,lucky we had french balcony.

Also,,general age and condition of ship...having been on newer one before and after,,,just would chose NOT to take my chance on Gate,,,unless I REALLY checked out the ship ahead of time.

As I said,,,better than NOT going IF price is MAIN concern,,sure other ships are better now...sorry to be a downer,,just MY OPINION,,,of course.:(
