Xanadu Beach, Grand Bahama

Has anyone been here? On a web site it said - a beautiful beach with 1 mile of fine white sand. How far from Freeport is it? Thanks :)

It's 5 minutes from Freeport or 10 minutes from Lucaya

Thanks BillR ... I also read there is a nice straw market area at Lucaya Beach. Do you think it's worth checking out after Xanadu Beach?

The straw market at Lucaya is nice to visit......as well as just walking around the whole beach complex

We were also looking for a beach in Freeport. On the net I found a place

call Xanadu Beach HOtel. I contacted them to see if they offered day passes to

their facility. The said they do not offer passes and that everyone is welcome

at the beach. Said they have a bar and grill and to come at your own free

will.

I have photos I took years ago of the jetty there. I remember taking my teenage boys to that beach as a shore excursion. Wow, were they surprised snorkeling when two girls when for a dip topless. My sons tried to act so casual about it. Great memories of that wonderful beach.

We just returned from a week long stay in the Bahamas at this resort. The beach is public and is undergoing quite a few renovations. Beach chairs are for rent at $2.00/chair and there were very few shaded huts, approximately seven. Entry into the beach was a little rocky. The water was only waist high for several yards. Jet skis are for available at $60 and I believe the Banana Boat at $10. Bar service was available, however, we did not have any food service. The food in the Xanadu restaurant was horrible. The cost by taxi from the port to the beach is about $21 for four people. There was only one woman on the beach selling jewelry and braiding hair.
