Missa Posted August 31, 2012 #1 Share Posted August 31, 2012 Are there tours available at port where you can negotiate tour price?
chipq Posted September 1, 2012 #2 Share Posted September 1, 2012 I was there in June and don't recall any one selling specific tours but there were plenty of drivers making pitches for private tours for the day. Didn't book one and didn't price any, sorry. http://luv2cruise.blogspot.com
jerry2457 Posted September 2, 2012 #3 Share Posted September 2, 2012 When I was there in 2008 there was a small building that said visitors center that was located as come off the dock and are moving into the city streets. It was a small building on the right but had a sign. I am sure you could talk to any number of guys in that area based on what you want to see. Antigua offers a few sights that are worth a stop. Devil's Bridge is a rocky outcropping along a windy portion of the ocean that has large rocks where the ocean is driven by the wind to crash against the shore and throws up huge sprays of water. Its about 15 minutes from the port dock and further down the way is a colorful old small church that is the 2nd oldest church on the island. Then further on is Shirley Heights National Park that has a fabulous view overlooking the ocean on 1 side and looks over Nelson's Dockyard the sailboat harbor on the other side. There is an entrance fee for the park. I would think you could easily walk off the ship and negotiate a rate for a few stops with a final stop at a beach or to be brought back to the dock. There are also names of a few tour operators under the Antigua topic that others have used in the past.
