Atlantis-Ships Excursion or on your own

Is it possible to go to Atlantis without doing a ships excursion? We're not interested in the beach or water slides. We just want to walk around a bit, gamble a little and see the aquarium. I looked at the info for the ships excursion and it notes that you have to walk approximately 15 minutes away to get to the bus. The reviews also state that you are hurried through the tour once you get there. I have some mobility issues due to knee surgery and I need to limit the amount of walking. I walk slow and am afraid I wouldn't be able to keep up with a fast moving tour. Would rather do this on my own, if possible. Can you get a taxi at the pier?

I can't speak to your specific excursion options but I can relate a little of our excursion we did two weeks ago. We did the full excursion including water slides, etc. We were docked at Prince George Wharf and we met right off the ship. At that point a release form was signed and then they issued wristbands depending on the excursion booked. Then we walked to Festival Place where we caught our shuttle bus. Not a 15 minute walk and I believe they have carts to help you. The bus dropped us off right at Atlantis.

After dropping us off they started the "tour." The tour was a completed waste of time, and aggravating, because you have all day to roam on your own and you have a bunch of people grouped up trying to see the same thing when you can wait an hour and do it on your own without a crowd.

If I did it again I would lose myself from the group. I think it's just to kill time since the water park doesn't open until 10 (sharp ) and you get over there just after 9. The tour does give you a brief overview of where everything is but if you can read a heavily illustrated map you're all set. Plus you won't be visiting the water park so that cuts down the area to about a quarter of the grounds.

Have fun! :)

Take a taxi from the port to Atlantis and just buy the Aquarium pass directly from Atlantis and go at your own pace. You won't be able to see much else other than the aquarium and the casino. You can search "Atlantis" and read lots of info from this forum including the prices.

Have fun and good luck in the casino!

jbanana is correct. If you just want to see the aquarium and casino, then getting a DIGS pass from the Casino kiosk is the way to go. You will NOT have access to the grounds, walkways, gardens, lagoons or outdoor exhibits.

The price is $40 for adults.
