Panama Canal Rollcalls

I'm curious why there is a lack of excitement and enthusiasm in the Panama Canal rollcalls? :confused: We're on the Pearl in April 2013 and there are only about 25 posts (and I've made more than half of them). My friend is cruising this month and she says the same about their rollcall.

 

What can be done to gather interest, activity, etc.?

 

On the other hand, maybe the price will drop if the ship is empty. :p

It like any other cruise some have active roll calls and some almost no posts. Our Star Canal cruise last fall was very active and great turn out for the M&G.

Not sure why others don't get excited about their cruise and join roll calls, maybe they just don't want to be involved. The stats are deceiving though. My last cruise roll call showed a high number of posts so I excitedly opened the roll call and began reading but found that at least 75% of the posts were from the same two people. It is a great tool to use to meet others.

Reasons are varied.

 

It could be that for whatever reason, people don't know about the roll call or what it is for,

 

Some people could be afraid to join the roll call because they may feel they have to get involved with something and they don't want to commit; it is a VACATION after all,

 

Some people are extremely private and don't want to know their neighbor so to speak. They want and guard their privacy,

 

Others may simply not believe in joining a roll call (cattle call to some) and want to just relax.

Plus, it's still 7 months away. Most of the ones I've been around don't really take off until under six months. Most get really busy after final payment. Longer cruises sometimes have an older demographic and that can lead to a little more introversion on some people's part.

I can be extremely excited about an upcoming cruise without belonging to a Roll Call.;)

I was thinking our May 13 NCL Sun Alaska cruise had a very small roll call - then I started looking for the roll call where the Sun moves from California? up to Vancouver - and they don't even have one that I could find a few days ago!

Hi Mary - our Panama Canal Repo this past April had a wonderful roll call. These longer excursions seem to attract a wider variety of people from around the world. I wouldn't worry about it. Sorry you won't be on the Jewel Repo as we are doing her again this year. It is wonderful !!! :) Cinci

my roll call for my panama canal cruise has over 1,600 replies and over 17,000 views, in fact it sailed 4/28/12 and people are still posting on it today! dont worry your get there your still almost a year away

Next cruise try looking at the Roll Calls first. I am trying to decide what cruise to do in 2013. This time before I decide I will look through the roll calls. I have been on two NCL cruises without Active Roll Calls and I felt the lack.

 

I was on the 4-28-12 Jewel Roll Call for many months before I had to drop out. There is nothing better than a group like that. They had more than one activity planned. Hi Cinci and Dave.

Ours is pretty quiet - a decent amount of people but not a lot of posts - I think everyone is busy planning and researching - but we have a great group and will have a wonderful time!
