Rare Familygoboston Posted October 5, 2013 Author #77 Share Posted October 5, 2013 We are going in December on the Silver Galapagos, same ship.So your detailed review is fantastic for planning. When you go snorkelling in deep water, is it from the zodiac directly in the water ? Sounds wonderful anickat- we really enjoyed the whole experience on the ship and islands! I think there are several expedition ships being operated, that were built to this same plan. We've been researching Antarctica and have seen a few of the ships with the exact same deck plans as GE2 - even the same "deck names". The deep water snorkeling is from the zodiac. You will get quite a bit of assistance from the guides, so don't worry about not being able to get back in. (They wont leave anyone there, promise! ;)) There is at least one guide in the water with the group, and one or 2 on the boat. There is a short ladder (2-3 steps) they use off the back, it is quite vertical and takes some effort to haul yourself up, but the guides will help. Also, several folks came and just rode in the zodiacs while others snorkeled. You could not see everything under the water from the zodiac, but things that surface like the rays or sea lions were visible to those in the zodiac waiting. Enjoy your cruise!
