need2bespoiled Posted December 27, 2012 #51 Share Posted December 27, 2012 What was that about? We were onboard Dec 1 and did not hear anything about additional credit for booking an Open Passage. If you look at the post above (#45): http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showpost.php?p=36448884&postcount=45 As well as a least two posts here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1748778 People who had existing open passage bookings before Dec 3, are eligible to combine those open passage bookings with the $1000 in OBC for Euro sailings. They probably didn't even know about it onboard, as the emails were sent by Celebrity after we off, they just came with the requirement that the Open Passage bookings had to be made before 12/3. Christine Frances Posted December 27, 2012 #52 Share Posted December 27, 2012 The problem here may be that if someone books a cruise directly with X using an Open Passage Certificate after the final payment date it can't be transferred to a TA. What one must do in this situation is to transfer or assign the Open Passage to your TA first and then book the cruise you want with that agency. The problem with this is it takes a few days to do the transfer so cabin availability and pricing might change. It may be possible to have your agent put a hold on a cabin at a certain price and then change the booking number to your Open Passage number to finalize the booking once the OP has been assigned to them. I've haven't done the latter but have done the transfer of the Open Passage, originally with X to my TA When you book an OP on board, the Certificate is directed to your TA that booked the cruise you are currently on unless you specify otherwise. Problem is, unless you ask, you are not aware of this. Sometimes the TA's are a one-off and you are now looking for a a new TA, and you could be surprised/upset that the original TA has the booking. We love our TA and he has all of our OP's and we just text and he can book right away without going through the tsf process. Before we had our great TA, we had a blank, signed transfer form scanned and then we just had to email that to the TA who printed it, filled in the pertinent info, rescanned it and X had it the same day. Worked like a charm. On the RCI boards there is a thread about doing away with this benefit. True or not, I hope X does not follow suit.
