2 Cabins - Guarantees and Upgrades?

If you book 2 cabins, does that mean there is no chance for an upgrade? Has anyone booked 2 cabins as guarantees? If so, were the cabins together? Just wondering if the Cruiselines make an effort to keep the cabins in the same booking together.

Our family booked four guarantees on Celebrity to Bermuda last year. We all ended up on the same deck. Three on the starboard side, all together, ours on the port side. Not necessarily a bad thing

There's no less chance of an upgrade.

 

The chances of the cabins ending up close to another are another question. Perhpas they will be, perhaps not.
