Rental Car

We will arrive in Houston a few days ahead of our cruise. We will have a rental car. Is there a rental car drop off/pick up in Galveston that will shuttle to and from the pier? We also plan to have a car when we disembark. What company might be our best choice? Thanks for your help.

The only rental car agency in Galveston is Enterprise. Closes at noon on Saturday and is closed on Sunday.

May want to try Hertz in Texas City if the hours open for Enterprise does not work for you. Do not know what hours Hertz is open.

Thank you Galveston Cruiser. That's helpful. I had found that Enterprise was available, but that they close at noon, I didn't know. I will check out Hertz in Texas City. I guess I'll have to find out if any rental car company shuttles to the Pier next.

I have a similar dilemma. Would it be easy to catch a taxi from Texas city to Galveston on a Sunday? I assume I could just call at the rental place after I return the car and it won't take too long for one to arrive to go to Galveston? Or is it considered outside of city limit?

Texas City is approximately 16 miles from Galveston, on the mainland, and is a different city.

 

Today's newspaper states there is a rumor Hertz is moving back to the island.

So then I would need to find some way other than taxi to get from Texas City to Galveston?

 

I just wish Enterprise was open Sunday. That would solve all problmes.
