nowheretorun Posted May 23, 2005 #1 Share Posted May 23, 2005 Anyone know if you can show up at the port in Honolulu on the day of departure for any of the NCL ships and get a cheap, "whatever is available" rate? I've tried searching on this board and the NCL with no luck. Mahalo!
Molokai-Chuck Posted May 24, 2005 #2 Share Posted May 24, 2005 I think the answer to that is no. Since 9-11, cruise ships going to or from an American port must relay Pax listings 24 hrs in advance to some govt. agency. I may not have this exactly correct.....but i am close. Turns out that the cruise ships are filling up sooner and empty berths are getting rarer. They suggested that we contact them a week before and see what is available. That was all they could offer. I remember in 2003, that NCL was offering amazing prices for the Star just before Christmas. Apparently those days are gone (for now?)
spleen93 Posted May 24, 2005 #4 Share Posted May 24, 2005 That's my impression as well -- that security these days would prevent you from just walking onboard a cruise ship. Spleen
