How late to book a cruise

We are thinking about taking another cruise in October with another couple and we were wondering is it better to wait until the last minute to book a cruise or earlier?

If we wait until closer to the cruise, what is the lastest we should wait before the cruise to try and book??

I would definitely say earlier. While it is true that you can sometimes get very good deals by waiting, that is not always true. My October cruise went up in price yesterday (but only slightly). If you book early you can always get a price decrease if it occurs before final payment.

Do you want to select a particular cabin or location? Can't do that if you wait to the last minute. You're also in Indiana. Not too many cruises leaving out of there, so I assume you need airline tickets. While you may save some $$$ by waiting, you then may more than offset your savings through higher airfare. JMHO

I agree- if you wait til the last possible minute your airfare will be rediculously high. If you know when you want to cruise book it now.

The main reason we do not book late is because like the other posters said is that the airfare goes through the roof. So I would book early.
