My Fascination voyage-oct 13th-18th

Recommended Posts

WELL... let me start by saying that there is no way to tell you every thing so i will hit the topics i think you might be interested in.

Jacksonville:

The beach is wonderful, soft light brown sand, very clean. Stayed at Microtel suites, was very comfy, nicely decorated, clean outdoor pool, pd. 57.00 for one night, only complaint was that the mirrors where all smudged up and we found a hard boiled egg left in our microwave. But they did let us check in super early.

Parking:

We chose VIP parking. No problems. They let us park our small size RV there and charged us double, which was 67.00, sure beats the 150 at the port.

Embarkation:

No fun, no fun, no fun. It took us from 11:30-1:30 to get on the ship. They had a camera break and it took a while to get it fixed. But it wasnt terrible or anything, just not a patient person.

Luggage arrived around 5pm, so i was starting to get worried but i figured it was because everything else was behind. We got it all, so no worries.

Imagination Dining room:

Our wait staff was wonderful!!!! i miss them!!! I will tell you what we ate that we DID like: everything! I found the food was hotter and better than on the fantasy. my fav's were the bacon mac and cheese, choc. melting cake, alligator fritters, and steak and lobster. The only drawback, which was my own fault, is that we had 8:15 dining time so by the time you finished dinner (around 9:30-10:000) you didnt really feel like doing anything else!!! next time i will choose an earlier dinning time. it also interfered with Camp Carnival activities, FYI. Be back in a a few.....

Our Room:

We had R136 and R40 connecting ocean veiw staterooms. One room was for 2 so my hubby and i shared it, the other had a pull down so my two sons and sister stayed it in. No complaints, had plenty of room, and the beds were super comfy.

Entertainment:

mixed. The shows: Hey mambo, was not my thing and no ones thing in our party of 12. We all left before the show was over. It was in Spanish for a lot of the songs and the dancing was just okay. so i was able to talk the group into seeing FAR FROM OVER, the 80's reveiw show and it was FAB!!!!!! i would have paid to see that show, please do not miss this one! The sailaway party was fun, lasting about an hour or so, but the rest of the time, except for the late night deck party, there wasnt really much going on on the deck. They did have the usual hairy chest contest...ect... but as far as MUSIC. it was very very dead at night. No live bands that i saw, and only DJ music from time to time that was turned down very low. This seemed to be the common complaint on this ship. Lack of music and going ons on Lido deck. This is probably my only legit. complaint. When we were in nassau, the Carnival Sensation was beside us and they were having a grand ole time while we just sat and listened to music coming from THEIR ship. Everyone was trying to figure out how to jump ship, lol.

There was a magician in the Imagination dinning room was was amazing!!! we tiped him 20.00. he was that good! that made for a great dinner the night he came to our table. We only saw the break dancers one time and that was in the 80's show, not all around the ship as before, but we could have just missed them i dont know. My sister and i played bingo on the last sea day, it was $20 to play and she won $25 on the pull tabs that come with the cards. The casino was nice, hubby won over $600, which we ended up paying towards our bill ;0). I didnt have any luck on the slots and we didnt see many others win on slots either, but maybe someone did, dont know. We didnt make it to any comedy shows, but did enjoy the 'battle of the sexes' in the palace theater.

Buffet:

The pizza was just not good to me, even my kids refused to eat it after they had one slice the first day. it was dry and mostly bread, didnt even look good. Free ice cream was all the rage and wonderful! made up for the sucky pizza. The food on the buffet was good, but it was hard to catch the buffet open for some reason, so we mostly ate from the grill, the chicken tenders and such. Those were good, no complaints. Room service: The chocolate cake was so good there are no words, lol. BLT was fab. so good we ordered almost every day :). Kids ordered a lot of chocolate milk and cookies, hot chocolate or iced tea and juice. Finally i told them no more ordering drinks because i was tipping everytime we got room service, of course, and they could just walk to the lido and get the drinks. But they were having such fun ordering.

John Heald.

OMG! i had spoken to him in an e-mail about my sons birthday and i figured my son would get a surpise waiter song and dance for his b-day at dinner. NO! we arrived to find room service delivering him choc. covered strawberries! the next day he got a birthday card slipped under the door, had the waiters sing to him in the dinning room, and on the last night got a ship on a stick delivered to his room! WOW! You have no idea how happy that made my son!!! i have never seen him smile as big as he did on those days of surpises! priceless!!!
