Christmas Cruise to Canary Islands

Hello. We are going on a Christmas cruise to the Canary Islands over Christmas with our 6 and 23 month old daughters. My husband and I have been on a cruise before and liked that you had formal nights to dress up. Given that NCL doesn't have formal nights, do you know if they will have anything special for Christmas dinner? Has anyone cruised over Christmas before? We are actually going to be at port on Christamas day, so we were hoping for a nice family dinner (preferably more formal). Thanks!!!

We were on the Jade Canary Island cruise over the holidays 2 years ago.

NCL does have optional dress up nights. On our sailing many of the passengers dressed formally for both Xmas and new Years Eve, perhaps because many were European.

We were at sea on Christmas day. They had a number of Christmas activities including Santa giving gifts to each child and a show with the featuring some songs sung by the children in the afternoon.

There was a special dinner, but I do not remember whether it was Christmas Eve or Christmas day.

NCL is great as that you CAN dress up whenever YOU want to.

As for being in Port on Christmas Day don't expect too much to be open.

If you want to do up dinner in a big way, make your specialty restaurant reservations as soon as the system opens up (usually 45 days before sail date).

Have a great time! The Canaries will be sunny but not excruciating hot.
