Faster to the Fun question

We have connecting balcony cabins and have 2 adults and 2 kids. They would not allow us to put the two adults in one room and the kids in the other, so the "minor children" wording is strange to me since minor children are not really suppose to be able to be booked in rooms without an adult also being listed in the room.

You can have minor children booked by themselves in an interior or ocean view room, but not a balcony room.

I see what you mean Donna. In your case I can see with minor children but with it being a paid benefit by cabin like you said it should be per cabin and people are now trying to skirt the rules on this...Wow!

I can see the people who are letting others put stuff in their room and board with their friends regular but to try to not pay for a room and still expect them to let your whole party board, the verbiage is clear it's a paid benefit. The linkage applies to Diamond and Platinum.

Thanks for that information.... we always do balconies so I guess we thought the rule was for all accommodations.

When we called we were told it was per cabin. We have connecting balcony cabins and have 2 adults and 2 kids. I don't mind paying for both cabins, it is a reasonable rate. I just think the wording of the rules need to be as specific as possible since people are always wanting to skirt the rules.

Actually the wording for booking agents is quite specific and minors may be booked in adjacent rooms. There are some exceptions:

You must be there parents/legal guardians;

It can't be a guarantee booking; and there are age limits (ie you can't book children under 14 in a balcony cabin by themselves).

One day we will be Diamond and then Platinum and won't have to worry about paying. For now, we will play by the rules and pay and enjoy the benefits as they were designed.

I hope that this option does not become a source of abuse of the system that causes it to be removed because it causes more hassle than it is worth.

I would just book a suite to get the VIP perks.... but I can never book far enough in advance to find one with a connecting room (if they even exist).

I don't think,they exist, and it wouldn't do you any good anyway a suite would only get you early embarkation/debarkation.

I don't think they exist either:(. We like the open air of the balconies and don't want to have a teen, 2 adults and a 5 year old all in one cabin. So we will continue to do balconies and book one adult in each room and one minor in each room.

When I used FTTF my PVP is the one that told me that I only needed to book it for one cabin. I had actuallt booked it for both cabins but was told not to. Before I cancelled I called in and asked again if I needed them both and was told no again. I certainly did not try to skirt the rules or not pay for something I should have. I just did what I was told was okay. And FWIW, they did not have to go anywhere to get any of our S&S cards. Cards for both cabins were there at the Priority Check In and we were processed in less than 10 minutes.

This mentions "check in". It does not speak to boarding early , getting luggage early, etc. I think its in conflict with the FTTF policy and creates confusion. Carnival should add a clarifying statement.
