kayak99 Posted November 4, 2012 #1 Share Posted November 4, 2012 Wife and I on the Holland America EC cruise leaving FL on 11/10. Trying to decide whether to to the Rain Forest in San Juan (hike or drive tour) or Bacardi? How far is Bacardi from the port and can this be done on own by cab or other means? Any comments on these? Thanks
Nole0202 Posted November 4, 2012 #2 Share Posted November 4, 2012 The Barcardi tour is reached by a ferry across the bay from the pier. It's only a couple dollars, but it is NOT a real factory tour....it's a fake Disney like ride through a customer created area. Strongly suggest that you visit the rain forest for memories that will last forever...

Thanks Agree~go to the rain forest. The factory is pretty lame, you get a few drinks and you can do it cheap by taking the ferry then a taxi, but not worth it. kayak99 Posted November 4, 2012 Author #4 Share Posted November 4, 2012 Thanks, rain forest it is! Two types of packages are offered, one with hiking and swimiming at the falls, which is fine with us, the second is driving, with just a short walk at one stop. Who likes what and any other recommendations for this rain forest day? Thanks!

kayak99 Posted November 5, 2012 Author #6 Share Posted November 5, 2012 we did Rocaliza tours and went hiking/climbing waterfalls/ziplining - it was literally the best time of our lives! We love ziplining but did you book them thru the ship or own own? Departure point? Looking at their website schedules I'm concerned theirs may not click with the ships. They depart at 9 AM. fischrn Posted November 7, 2012 #9 Share Posted November 7, 2012 Definitely Rain Forest! El Yunque is soooo beautiful. Try 2 take an EcoTour w/ the AEI guide. You will never forget it. Luckily, we r staying in PR before our cruise & had our own rental car - drove ourselves there. Stop in visitors center for maps from Park Ranger @front desk. Tour $5/$3 Seniors.
