stiej Posted November 23, 2012 #1 Share Posted November 23, 2012 We are coming over on the QM2 in June and we were looking at the Celebrity Eclipse 14 day out of southampton or the rccl brilliance (i think) out of harwich. RCCL is a 12 day so we could build in a day in Paris or something and the price is about 5k cheaper. Is there a transfer from Southampton to Harwich. Would this even be possible? I dont want to do a train since I will have luggage and kids. Thanks!!
Cruise NH Posted November 24, 2012 #2 Share Posted November 24, 2012 Here is a recent thread about going from harwich to southampton, as you'll read it isn't a breeze either way. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1709591&highlight=southampton+harwich If you have time in between then you can always spend a couple of days in London, and that would break up the trip. QM2 offers bus transportation into London Central, or you could book private transport. We always use www.smithsforairports.com, but there are others. We came in on the QM2 a few years ago and had to get over to Dover for another cruise. We didn't want to bother with trains and busses so we booked with smiths for the ride. Of course it costs more than public transportation but you make the choice...convenience over money. We looked at it as a % of our whole European vacation and it was very small. Have a great trip! Rare John Bull Posted November 25, 2012 #3 Share Posted November 25, 2012 NH has directed you to a previous thread about getting between Southampton & Harwich. But if you plan to build Paris into the equation, post with the date of your cruise into Southampton & the date/s of the alternatives out of / back to Harwich, and whether you'd aim to visit Paris between cruises or post-cruise because there are various permutations.
