Has anyone out there sailed on the QM2 for the first cruise of the year after the holiday cruise. We're sailing on January 3, 2006. It would be lovely to see the ship all decked out in her holiday finery. I can't imagine they pluck every last wreath and tree from site and whisk them away to Mt. Crumpet that soon.

Don't get your hopes up that you will see holiday decorations in January. While on QE2 for the 12/15/04 transatlantic a crew was busy every day putting decorations up. They were still at work as we sailed up NY harbor.

BUT On 2 HAL new years trips, the decorations came down as we docked including happy holidays that had been painted on the sides near the bridge.

SO I would expect that all holiday decorations will be removed from the passenger spaces, and boxed up behind the scenes.

I can confirm that when boarding QE2 in NYC on 3rd Jan 05 there was not a decoration in sight, so they must have been taken down straight after new year. Presumably the only way to see the ship decorated is to sail over the holiday period itself.
