Luggage size restriciton?

Just read on the back of our luggage tag that there is a restriction. Our luggage is 29 inches tall. Will that be a problem..We leave Friday.

The size is 16"H x 24"W and no length restrictions.

 

Let me try to explain this to you. If you stand your piece of luggage on its wheels and the pull handle is up (next to your hand), that is the length. Think of the width as looking at it left to right. The height as from front (where the outer pockets are) to back (where the handle is located). If this is still confusing, read this as you are looking at a suitcase.

 

In any case, the 25" & 29" suitcases are fine.

Great visual from Rosefloater...but another way to look at it. The luggage must go on a conveyor belt with a "door" that is 16" x 24" inches. Somehow it has to fit through that door.

The luggage size restriction really only applies to carry-on luggage so that they fit the scanner; size and weight aren't checked or enforced for checked luggage. ken

Here is how to measure luggage.

Lay down like you are packing.

From back to front is your width.

From surface up is your height.

My duffle bag is 25 or 29 inches in length can I use it as a carry on or is that to long ?

As long as the other 2 measurements are 16x24 or less you are fine.
