headhurt Posted November 29, 2012 #2 Share Posted November 29, 2012 Not me. Where did you find it? Do you have a link? I am also looking for something to do while we are in Roatan. Thanks!
DrSch Posted November 29, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted November 29, 2012 Their website is http://www.roatansunsplashtours.com/ They have a special on their facebook page with a discount on this particular combo package if you book before Nov 30th. They are listed on Tripadvisor as the #1 activity in the area, and the #14 activity for Roatan. A little bit pricey, but they don't combine groups.. that is to say, private pickup at the dock and private snorkel in a private area, with a private guide. I booked for my cruise, will review upon my return in Feb. Actually you are going before me, so you can review it for me :) If you book it, mention that Dave Sch told you about it

DrSch Posted February 3, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted February 3, 2013 Funny you should ask, was just about to post one.... Roatan Sun Splash Dune Buggy and Snorkeling was the highlight of our vacation. First things first... working with Steph via email to set it up was great. She responds well, is excellent at providing information, and makes you feel like you are important to her as a customer. Once you get off the ship in Roatan, and walk up and over the hill to where the vendors are allowed to stand, they were easy to find. Picked us up in a minivan and brought us to the first stop for the dune buggy ride. The dune buggy ride was awesome. You get to see all parts of the island, up into the hills, down to a beach, through the rain forest... Amazing sights in and of themselves. Then you arrive at the mud pits and are offered the option to go nuts and get dirty.. and dirty we got!! When they say bring old clothes you don't care about.. they are serious.. we were covered.. and laughed harder and longer than we had in a long time. From there it's down to the beach to clean up, and then over to a resort on the beach for lunch if you want to eat. After that we returned to the Dune Buggy tour area, where James was waiting for us. We jumped back in the van and off to snorkel. What was nice about this snorkel trip, is that they brought us to their local house / pier. From there we went out to a lobster sanctuary, where there were loads of tropical fish, huge lobsters, barracuda, and lots of amazing conch shells. This was not a tourist trap area, and we didn't see anyone else snorkeling anywhere. No we didn't get to pet dolphins or stingrays, but then again we didn't want to. We enjoyed being out there alone with the fish and the lobsters.
texancruzer Posted February 3, 2013 #6 Share Posted February 3, 2013 Not sure if the dune buggy portion is part of the dune buggy tour we did while on our one week stay at Christmas or not. We have not done this tour with this company, but we did do the dune buggy tour with Sandblasters. This was a brand new company - opened in Nov. 2012 and it was a B-L-A-S-T !!!!! The mud pits were indeed MUDDY ! We had so much fun and were covered from head to toe. They give you goggles and a bandana to wear over your mouth..... you need it ! The views from the mountain top were amazing and the drive thru the jungle area was very cool. We cleaned off at the beach - of course you then get back into a completely muddy buggy - but thats ok. I did post a thread on this tour a couple of weeks ago...... for those looking for something different to do. Anyway, you can book direct with Sandblasters - just google it. texancruzer Posted February 5, 2013 #9 Share Posted February 5, 2013 How long is the ride from port to Dune buggy area? HEY.... we are from Corpus Christi !!! We live out on the island ! Just don't see a lot of people from here....... You are sailing Princess so will dock at Mahogany Bay. So a short ride to the dune buggy place. Maybe 10 minutes at the most. Check out this map. It is just past the mall area marked on the map. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.roatansunsplashtours.com/attachments/Image/Roatan-Island-Tourist-Map.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.roatansunsplashtours.com/roatan-mangrove-tour-eco-friendly-day-tour.php&h=746&w=1512&sz=821&tbnid=s0OxL5YY3eNIlM:&tbnh=62&tbnw=125&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dmahogany%2Bbay%2Bisla%2Broatan%2Bmap%26tbm%3Disch%26tbo%3Du&zoom=1&q=mahogany+bay+isla+roatan+map&usg=__6jX85k97umLIZ4V4Ilt1DKizeho=&docid=1dEvNR9OO6bfDM&sa=X&ei=lAUMUYbfH479qAHikYHwCQ&ved=0CDQQ9QEwAQ&dur=
