You'll have to excuse me while I tell a little story here. Almost ruined the whole week for me :(.

Cass wasn’t having too good of a day in the casino so she went to do her hair since we were going to have dinner at the Italian restaurant, La Cucina with our friends Ron & Linda and Alicia (ItalianFemmy) & Latanya. I was scheming on how to get Cass a pair of earrings without her knowing since the S&S card was tied to her credit card and she might notice a charge that big. I had popped in earlier and found out that I could pay with a personal credit card. So I went to the room with her and told her I was heading back to the casino. I got her earrings and just had to keep them hidden until we got home so I could wrap them for Christmas. She came back after a bit and I told her I was going to head to the room to get ready for dinner as well (just wanted to be alone so I could hide the earrings). I emptied everything out of my pockets and hid the earrings in my bag. I was so excited and pleased with myself until Cass came back in the room and asked me what the receipt on the counter was!!! My dumb ass had left the receipt right on the counter and ruined what would’ve been a great Christmas surprise. I was so disappointed with myself (and still am).

Sorry about that. Back to your regularly scheduled review.

Aww, LOL! So did you give her the earrings right then?

This side of deck 5 was smoking and the other side was non smoking. We really loved this added outside area. It was great to grab lunch and just enjoy it on these lower decks.

Great Review. Love the detail. This is why I read reviews ~ to learn that it is okay to sail on a new ship ~ my DH was worried there might not be any smoking areas on a newer ship. This is good to know and seems like a fair compromise. Thank you! :)

I will interject, as I was on this cruise with my new friends, Chris and Cass. Yes, you can smoke on the port side of deck 5 (which is where the Red Frog Pub is)...they have different sets of seating areas as you walk up that Promenade deck...it's quite nice. You can also smoke on the port side of deck 11...they have a nice comfy seating area in the aft, then loungers, and then another area with tables and chairs, along with some comfy chairs and ottomans which overlook main Lido. The only places you can smoke inside are the Liquid Nightclub (when it is open for business) and at half of the casino bar. Hope that helps!:)

Let's see if we can finish this day up. Where were we....oh yeah La Cucina. First let me say that we were hoping to catch the show 'Motown' this night as we had heard it was one of the best shows that Carnival has put on. Unfortunately we missed it but we had a great night with old and new friends.

We met at 7 and got a nice seat all the way on the other side of the the restaurant. I was surprised that this specialty restaurant was actually bigger than the Steakhouse.

The food was excellent and there was a lot of it. If you order 2 of the same appetizer, they bring you a family sized portion. We ordered 3 different family size apps and they were all delicious.

P1020618.jpg

The meatballs (probably the best meatballs I've ever had)

P1020625.jpg

Fried Risotto (sooooo good)

And the Anti Pasta (it looked anti-good so I didn't have any)

Our servers were Vesko (it was hilarious when Femmy gave him her camera and he was scared to break it)

And Boris

Someone brought champagne for us to share but Ron drank mine since I'm not a fan of the bubbly

P1020631.jpg

I had the chicken parm and it was huge (and quite delicious)

P1020628.jpg

Cass had (Nonna's Dish) Penni Pasta with Vodka Sauce and Shrimp (in her words 'to die for')

I was so stuffed but still managed to eat a cannoli which was probably the best I’ve ever had.

We ended up just sitting and talking for a few hours.

Femmy got probably the best picture of us that anyone has ever taken (heads and shoulders above what Carnival photographers can do) and cemented our belief that she is a true artist behind a camera.

This was an incredible meal and by far the best Italian I've had. Everything I ate was fantastic. In my opinion the food here was better than the Steakhouse and at almost 1/3 the price, a great value.

We went back to the casino where Cass wasn’t having a good night so she headed back to the room while I stayed. I went to the Piano Bar around midnight (I see drunk people). Ward was being molested by this really annoying, collagen filled woman. I sat next to him so he could have an excuse to ignore her and she latched onto some other poor guy. Ron kept playing my favorite songs so after saying ‘one more song’ 5 or 6 times I called it a night around 1:30.

We did have this little guy waiting in bed

Thanks Linda!! I was going to respond about the side of Deck 11, but forgot about the indoor areas :D

CupKayke, new ships are fun - there's always going to be something not quite "up to snuff" which I'll actually be breaking down our "cons" at the end of this review - yes I didn't love everything - but the getting out there and giving it a try is always great - and the Breeze is a good choice for a new adventure...

I just wanted to add in some additional photos of Cucina that for some reason Chris didn't have in his Photobucket album, and also mention it was a little tricky finding the place. The easiest way to get here is to go to the Aft Elevators and head up to Deck 11. It's right off the elevators. The other way is through the Lido Buffet on Deck 10 - there's a staircase leading up. Just wander through the Buffet seating area and look up for the pretty blue sky and you're getting close.

The area was large and the seating felt open and airy - there were large tables that could seat what looked to be at least 10-12 people, and it was so cool as we were leaving, we passed the Ship Captain and some of the crew all in there enjoying a nice meal (we decided against interrupting their dinner to snap photos).

Lovely Blue Ceiling like in the Atrium lobby

Annnd, I didn't forget - here are the Fun Times for this Day at Sea.

Believe me, we seriously considered it... but things just didn't work out. Their work is amazing and had things been different, perhaps! We may just have to ply her with some incentive to cruise with us again :p ;)

Trust me, we wish we were joining you on BC6 as well. We are just strapped for vacation time right now. Not to mention wedding expenses (I just bought the wedding rings last night :D).
