Ammenities on RCL: British vs. U.S. - It's different!

Just took the repositioning cruise from Southhampton to Ft. Lauderdale on the Independence of the Seas. (11/22/12 - 12/05/12)

 

Great value and a mamorable trip.

 

U.S. citizens were outnumbered by 2 to 1 on this crossing and the differences in the ammenities offered to a mainly British clientele as opposed to what we have been used to sailing from U.S. ports became apparent early on.

 

Here are a few:

 

Tabloids! You can buy them onboard every day...

Bingo: It's different!

 

 

Casino:

 

Brit's just don't shoot craps. Check out the tiny "tub" type craps table and the layout.

 

 

 

Gratuities: No gratuities included on bar tabs!!!

Hey! Where's the in-room coffee???

 

Little bowls on Windjammer tables for tea bags!

 

 

Too bad they couldn't figure out how to include actual ice in their so-called "ice tea," but most American restaurant's haven't figured it out either.

 

We now have lots of GREAT new friends from "Across the Pond" and "Down Under" to remember for years to come.
