How Does the Photo Cd Option Work? 3 Questions

Recommended Posts

I have read the "faqs" for what they are worth, but am still kind of confused. so 3 quick questions for anyone that has experience with the photo cd:

1. First off, if purchased it includes everyone in that stateroom, even if one of them is in a picture with people from other staterooms, correct? In other words if my husband and I purchase it for our stateroom it will include any pictures of either of us, whether we are together or separate, even if the picture also includes people from another stateroom?

2. Secondly, with regard to families split between 2 staterooms. Our 18 month old son will be in the stateroom next door with his grandparents. If we purchase the disc for our stateroom, am I correct in understanding that it will also include any pictures of him as well (assuming we link the cabin under the Under 21 Rule), even if they are just of him and we aren't in them? Or would we need to purchase a second package for him in order to get copies of his solo pictures?

3. Lastly, when it says it does not include Professional Portrait shots, are those the formal night shots with the backgrounds or something else?

Thanks!!

Just back from Mariner of the Seas and we purchased the photo disk ahead of time. Also paid another $100 onboard to get all the prints. Made our cruise like a 7 day trip to picture people.

1. That is correct. Any picture with someone from your stateroom will be included.

2. I believe this is correct, but we didn't test that feature.

3. It included all shots we took, including white and black backgrounds done on formal and other nights. I was told what was not included were any photo shoots that were scheduled with an appointment... but we didn't see any of those anyway. I suggest spending time on the different days hitting the neutral backgrounds.

Note: Sometimes they miss photos with you. During the cruise, you need to look through the printed photos and check them against what is on the kiosk. If you find photos missing, let them know and they will add them to the kiosk. We found port photos w/ sunglasses were frequently missed. Do this frequently. Also, let them know first day your on board. They will start a folder to keep all of your prints.

Note 2: We had problems with our disk when we got back (the photos are all locked and need to be unlocked which should happen automatically). I filed a ticket but didn't get any response after 3 days, so I called. They found the ticket and walked me through fixing the problem. However, we were still unable to get it to work so I had to send in my disk. Will update when the problem is resolved.

First off, thanks for the rely :-)

I also just got an "official' reply to the email i sent the vendor with the same questions. here it is, just in case anyone else might be interested:

Thank you for your interest in MyCruisePhotos.com.

1) Yes, you are correct. As long as at least one member of your stateroom is in a photo, it will be included in your package--as long as there are less than 20 people total in the photo.

2) Yes, again. You will receive all photos of your son in the other stateroom (even if nobody from your stateroom is in the photo). However, please ensure that you visit the Photo Gallery at the beginning of your voyage so that they can link him to your package.

3) Get the Picture! photo packages include all of the standard events: embarkation, formal nights, dinner, around the ship, ports, etc. The only events that aren't included would be privately scheduled photography, such as booking an hour to do family portraits in the Photo Gallery.

If you purchase a photo package on our website and decide that you do not want the package once on board (for any reason), the package is fully refundable as long as you inform the Photo Team on board before the end of your cruise. Please let me know if I can assist you in any other way.

My cruise is too far away that I can not log into see what is offered. How much is the cd option?

I believe it depends on your ship and the number of days. When I was looking at it before, it appeared that a 9 day on the Explorer was $250. (the 7 day was less.) Without being able to log in, you'll only be able to get a ballpark figure.

They use facial recognition software to select the pictures of people in your cabin. Depending on what you might be wearing (sun glasses, hats, etc) the computer might recognize you. Just let the people in the photo gallery know which pictures might be missing in your portfolio and then they will have to manually go in and add them.

On my 11 night cruise, it was $99.95 for 5 photos, $149.95 for 10 photos and $249.95 for all photos on CD.

When purchasing any photo packages on a CD, you will actually get all your photos on the CD. You can view all the photos taken on your home computer and then unlock the photos that you want depending on your purchased package and download those selected photos onto your hard drive. For example if you have purchased the package $99.95 for 5 photos then you can select and download 5 photos from the CD.

A photographer on Independence told me that the face recognition works about 95% of the time.

We did this recently. We ended up with over 330 photos. We also bought the prints. I did put a lot of time and effort in while on the ship to be sure all of the photos that our family was in were included in my kiosk "account" We were spread across 3 cabins (2 adults and 4 kids). We had a lot of photos with kids and other friends that did not always show up in my kiosk account. Most problems were from the day or two.

Anyway, after getting home we realized there were a few prints we got that we were missing the digitals for. I submitted a ticket with the company and we were able to get the missing photos we requested.

Photos are generally $20 each when purchased individually on board.

All in all I am very happy we did the photo package!

I have been saying for years that the cruise ships should offer this kind of package. I am by no means an environmental maniac, but the waste of ink and printing paper for pictures people do not buy is astounding. I was on a cruise to Alaska and all of the pictures were tied to my S&S an d not printed out. I could pick and choose which pictures I wanted and after I had purchased them I could immediately E-mail them to my family from the kiosk. I thought that was a novel idea.

I plan on purchasing the disk package for my 50th birthday cruise on Oasis in November. I am planning on getting a lot of pictures taken of this special occasion. My best friend is going with me and it is her first cruise so it will be a way of commemorating it for her too. If you think how much money you spend at $20 per copy to purchase the pictures already printed on board the price of the disk is more than reasonable.

Is there any advantage to purchasing the photo package ahead of time vs purchasing it on the ship? Is it any cheaper to purchase ahead of time? Thanks!

I don't know this first hand but, several people have said it is less prior to sailing. I have already ordered the CD package.

Yes. We bought the CD for our 7-day Allure cruise and it was $50.00 cheaper to buy the CD on-line before the cruise started. We ended up buying all the prints as well for $100.00. We had over 140 pictures, and we felt it was well worth it.
