kitman Posted December 16, 2012 #1 Share Posted December 16, 2012 HI All, first time going aboard Voyager, for the Christmas Cruise and was wondering are the gratuities optional as the case on some of the other cruise lines doing the Aus/NZ waters?? We tip the staff we interact with , and receive excellent courteous service accordingly. Just asking??
cruisnseas Posted December 16, 2012 #2 Share Posted December 16, 2012 Grats are always optional with Royal Caribbean. The only exception is if you select MyTime dining in which case they are added when you select that dining option and paid for with your final payment. AussieVisi2r Posted December 16, 2012 #3 Share Posted December 16, 2012 But they are automatically added on for us Aussies. If you wish to pay it yourself, just ring up and have them remove them from your bill - then pay tips in cash.
The_Big_M Posted December 16, 2012 #4 Share Posted December 16, 2012 They're not optional in the same way you ask with other cruises in our waters e.g. P&O and Princess. On those, they don't expect gratuities, so any gratuity is really optional. On RCL, staff's payments are based on gratuities so they are expected (at the recommended amount), even though they don't say it's compulsory.
