Glory Review Dec 9-16

I dont understand. What do you mean kicking the smokers up to deck 10? Is smoking only allowed on deck 10 now?

Basically, yes. There is no smoking anywhere on Lido deck. The smoking section is on Deck 10 Panorama, Starboard side. It isn't marked or designated in any way. There really isn't any shade or shelter up there and it gets very breezy when the ship is moving. There is smoking in the blue bar, which was rarely open on our cruise and dead as a doornail. There is also smoking at one end of the casino bar, and at designated locations in the casino only if you are gambling.

The lido deck bartenders don't have any ashtrays. There were 12 chairs up on deck 10 and a handful of loungers that were used by the smokers on the cruise. The most ashtrays we ever saw up there was about 5.

Well this is an improvement. We were on the Glory 3 weeks ago and were lucky if there was more than one ashtray up there.

You can also smoke in the White Heat Disco, if you can handle the noise they call music in there.

Thanks CJ. I knew I was forgetting something. We never went into the disco at all.

There were quite a few smokers on our trip and a little bit of distress. No one seemed to mind having to go to Deck 10 after the first day of confusion about where the smoking area was. The staff didn't seem to be sure and people were being told a variety of different things. What had people irritated was that although there were hundreds of smokers, there were 12 chairs, about 4 concrete blocks to use as tables, and the 4 or 5 ashtrays. As the cruise went on, the chairs started to disappear. At any given time there were a bunch of people standing around without ashtrays or any place to sit.

By the way... for anyone wanting to use the unlimited internet package, don't bother unless you really need to be connected and are willing to be super frustrated when it doesn't work correctly. I only managed to log in twice all week long and it made me crazy since I had some work things I needed to take care of.

I am so glad you posted that. I would have been really disappointed to purchase and have intermittent service. I guess the idea of streaming a tv show from hulu is out of the question on a sea day. I assume the internet speed was the new "fast one?"

I was on the same cruise and as I am a Karaoke fanatic, I hope I was not one of the group who affended your ears. Was it the blond with the small band that sang near the casino and sometimes in the lobby that you disliked? I love to sing and loved all the Karaoke, especially with the live band. The guitar player can really rock it when accompanying me on "Bring me to Life" or "Lady Marmalade". I sailed back to back and had a blast on my cruises.

I had 2 areas of complaint with the cruises:

#1) I was very disappointed by the main showroom shows: They got rid of the orgestra!!! Now the shows are just the singers and dancers (I use the term loosely) marching around the stage to canned music. I love Karaoke but Hey I don't want to see it in the main show room.

#2) Main Dinning room: I was at luch one day with friends and the menu had "burger as you like it" with a list of possible toppings. My friend ordered a bacon, chedder cheese burger and they brought her an avocado pravalone cheese burger and then proceded to argue with her, telling her that these are the only toppings available for the burger.

More concerning to me was when I tasted the egg roll on my lunch It tasted like crab and as I am deathly allergic to crab, I knew I had to find out quick so I could get to my epi pen if it did. I explained my situation to the waiter and he said he would go ask the chef. He proceded to serve food to 2 more tables rather than going to ask. I finally had to call him over and tell him, "I NEED TO YOU GO RIGHT NOW AND FIND OUT IF THIS EGGROLL CONTAINS CRAB BECAUSE IF IT DOES I MIGHT DIE!!! He finally went and asked and thankfully it did not contain crab. Main point is if it had contained crab I would probably be dead now since the waiter was in NO hurry to find out. Only other problems were that they don't always thaw out the food before sending it to the table. I twice received frozen Tiramisue cake (as in the fork could not break the ice) and once received frozen shrimp on my shrimp cocktail. I was also very disappointed by the absence of Escargot'. They had it on the menu up until one hour before dinner but this was evidently posted in error as they informed me that they quit haiving Escargot 3 weeks ago.

Don't get me wrong, I still had a great time on the trip and do not regret going but I would love to see the return of the big band and maybe a chef who makes sure he is serving non frozen edible food before allowing it to exit his kitchen.

Escargot is gone again? We sailed in October and it was on menu. Is this fleetwide?

Yes the internet was the new "high speed". To be honest, the speed was okay the couple of times I used it. Probably not good enough to stream anything, but fast enough to not make me insane waiting for a page to load to check email or navigate around the class I teach online.

The issue I had was that it wasn't intermittent, it was seemingly non-existent after the first 2 days. I used it on Monday evening for quite a while, briefly on Tuesday, and then could never connect again. I couldn't get the hub to open up.

Unfortunately, even though I couldn't get the hub to open, I was apparently still logged in. If I were on a minute plan I would have been screwed. Unless you actually log OUT, you are still logged in. Of course, I couldn't log out because I couldn't get the carnival hub to open up on my tablet again. So when I tried to use the computers in the interent room on the ship, I could not do so, because they told me I was logged in at another location with my credentials.

A little frustrating for $100.

Thanks for the internet clarification, it may seem inconvenient to log in and out, but I guess if I purchase a plan will learn from you and to log out just in case need to use ships internet terminals.
