thinfool Posted January 5, 2013 #2 Share Posted January 5, 2013 anyone have any tips or insights on the best method/place for changing us dollars to euros? sailing on the msc divina from barcelona jan 20 2013 Find an ATM when you get off the plane in Barcelona. The airport has plenty. Be sure to tell your bank that you will be traveling in Europe, countries, dates, etc.
wantocruisemore Posted January 6, 2013 #3 Share Posted January 6, 2013 ATM is the best way. The exchange rate is normally better than the machines on the cruises. And I can echo to please remember to call the number on your debit cards and credit cards. I did that with no problems, my SIL however just told her local branch. Her card ended up blocked. JezzaC Posted January 6, 2013 #4 Share Posted January 6, 2013 ATM's are the best way to get local currency. And if you change currency don't do it at airport or in the cruise ship - you surely get the worst rates from there. Local banks would be most reliable for the change. thinfool Posted January 6, 2013 #5 Share Posted January 6, 2013 And if you change currency don't do it at airport. I assume you mean at an exchange kiosk. The ATM machines at the airport are usually put there by local or international banks and offer the same exchange rates as one at a bank.
