kepster Posted January 6, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 6, 2013 I read somewhere that it may be difficult to access the Julia St terminal for embarkation, by foot. We would like to walk from our hotel in the French Quarter. Has anyone done this lately?
jgmpuma Posted January 6, 2013 #2 Share Posted January 6, 2013 It is not a difficult walk, but the easiest way to get there is to take the Riverfront streetcar to the Julia Street stop. You will be right there.

You will be right there. It would be a difficult walk from the French Quarter, about 10 blocks, if you have all of your luggage to carry. And you have to get your luggage on a streetcar if you use that option. Maybe walk the route the day before you cruise and see what you think...I would take a taxi because of the luggage. eyern1 Posted January 7, 2013 #4 Share Posted January 7, 2013 I thought I saw somewhere that luggage was not allowed on streetcars.
kepster Posted January 7, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted January 7, 2013 We are fine to walk 10 blocks will smallish roller suitcases. Do we enter the terminal through the Riverwalk mall? Or the convention center?
zzupschuck Posted January 7, 2013 #6 Share Posted January 7, 2013 Some people say there is a door at the end of the River Walk Mall that will lead you to the port..but it is locked sometimes...I wouldn't try it, especially pulling luggage. You can't get there through the Convention Center, you have to walk all the way around it and then back to the terminal entrance, and it's a LONG way around the Convention Center...it's gigantic, about 5 or 6 blocks long. I have read somewhere that you can get to the terminal by turning left when you get to the Convention Center and going around back that way...it would definitely be shorter if you can. looking4info Posted January 8, 2013 #7 Share Posted January 8, 2013 Took the trolley to Julia St with luggage. Very easy. Porters were there to check the bags.

At what stop did you get off the streetcar? Then, where did you walk to get into the terminal?
looking4info Posted January 8, 2013 #9 Share Posted January 8, 2013 At what stop did you get off the streetcar? Then, where did you walk to get into the terminal? It ended just before (30ft?) Julia St. Walked to Julia turned right and about 30 ft away there were the porters. Dropped off the bags turned back to the direction we came from walked up/down? Julia St, maybe 25 yards, and walked into the terminal. Very easy you can not mess it up.
