casavaha Posted January 8, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 8, 2013 Anyone know when the Star will be drydocked and what work will be done on her? We will be on the Christmas cruise in Dec. Hoping for Alfredo's in the Atrium. Greg
cruiserdru Posted January 8, 2013 #2 Share Posted January 8, 2013 The Star was in drydock in Nov/Dec 2011 and the 2013/2014 Cruise Atlas does not show any gaps in her sailings so it seems unlikely that she will have any changes for a December 2013 sailing. On the Grand, adding the Alfredo's severely impacted the Vines to the point they no longer had tapas. That would be unfortunate (IMHO) as the Vines on the Star was a favorite spot of mine during our last cruise on her.

Especially if they would take that stupid Vines Store out.

Colo Cruiser Posted March 19, 2014 #5 Share Posted March 19, 2014 According to the website a 9 day dry dock with nothing new, just normal maintenance.
runnerodb83 Posted March 19, 2014 #6 Share Posted March 19, 2014 I wouldn't expect anything new. She just had a lot of the big changes in 2011 including the updated horizon court. I'm not sure Alfredo's is that successful, on the Sapphire Christmas cruise it was usually empty. In my opinion, the star is in the best shape of the original grand class trio. Noticed there were additional windscreens and located around the buffet. The casino is pretty bad now however, I don't recall any windows which makes it even less enjoyable to walkthrough. runnerodb83 Posted May 15, 2014 #10 Share Posted May 15, 2014 They are replaced all the time on ongoing basis. After just sailing on her, the familiar firm princess mattress seems to have been replaced with a slightly more plush HAL style mattress. No problems sleeping, very comfortable.
