I think on Southwest perhaps $40 one way pp. Drive 2.5 hours. Good luck

The flight from LAX to SD would be about 40 minutes at the most. It's a 2-1/2 to 3 hour drive (4 hours if traffic is REALLY bad!!)

 

Drive time from SD to Las Vegas would be about 5-1/2 to 6 hours.

Flying is definitely the better way to travel if it's in the budget as LA traffic is unpredictable. Time of day is crucial to answer driving time from LA-SD and SD-Vegas. You didn't say when you were playing to go. LA-SD flight time is about 50 min. It should be approx 60 min flight from SD-Vegas. I fly from Ontario to Vegas regularly and the flight is usually 45-min long. SD is obviously a bit further. SW is usually the cheapest if you decide to fly.
