visconti4 Posted January 25, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 25, 2013 Is it cheaper to do b to b? Can you get off the ship inbetween? Any thing else you can think of? thanks
RuthlessBoss Posted January 25, 2013 #2 Share Posted January 25, 2013 Price is not the issue. Some do B to B for two itineraries but only having to travel/fly to a port once. Others are doing short cruises to build their status faster to get to platinum.
ciera123 Posted January 25, 2013 #3 Share Posted January 25, 2013 When we did our B2B, we could get off the ship or stay in the public areas of the ship.
Beebob1 Posted January 25, 2013 #4 Share Posted January 25, 2013 We are doing a B2B next month mainly because CCL sails from our homestate, price wasn't bad and both are only 5 day cruises.
Colorado Kat Posted January 25, 2013 #5 Share Posted January 25, 2013 We've done back to back so we only have to fly once, and it extends the vacation.
gusandgidgetsmom Posted January 26, 2013 #6 Share Posted January 26, 2013 We do b2b to extend the length of the cruise and not have to go on another ship or pack again. We always pick the same room for each leg. You are given a bottle of champagne (I guess that is what it is--we have never opened it) and allowed to be one of the few or the only ones on the ship besides the crew for a few hours or so. You can also get off but then you have to go thru the boarding line again. Not worth it in my opinion.
Carnival_Brides Posted January 26, 2013 #7 Share Posted January 26, 2013 We did an 8 day b2b (two four day cruises) and loved it. We booked early enough to be able to stay in our cabin. It was fun watching everyone leave the ship, knowing that we got to stay.
cruisinthemed Posted January 26, 2013 #8 Share Posted January 26, 2013 And then there's ship hopping...Same ports/area (Miami & Fort Lauderdale). Going on multiple cruises since already flying across the country, for us We will board 3 ships, 2 ports.

Momis2 Posted January 26, 2013 #10 Share Posted January 26, 2013 We are doing a b2b2b on the Splendor . We will be leaving Long Beach on 2/3 and getting into NYC on 3/23. The only airfare we have to pay is a one-way from New York back to California. This is a first for us so we are interested to see how it works. We have shore excursions on each port day so we will be getting off the ship and will have to go thru embarkation, I guess. I did make sure to book the same cabin for all 48 days. Chigirlcruzin Posted January 26, 2013 #11 Share Posted January 26, 2013 For everyone or just certain levels? It depends on the ship. Some give a fruit basket. I got nothing.
gusandgidgetsmom Posted January 26, 2013 #12 Share Posted January 26, 2013 We have never just gotten nothing. Yes sometimes a fruit basket which we prefer, but not lately.
jmcancruise Posted January 26, 2013 #13 Share Posted January 26, 2013 We are doing a b2b on the Valor in the fall. We actually will have the same itinerary for both cruises. We chose it because we liked the itinerary, but felt with 5 ports it would be too tiring. This way one week at a port we can kick back and relax, and the other plan something more adventurous. We did a b2b once before and received chocolate covered strawberries at the beginning of our second voyage.
douglinc@msn.com Posted January 26, 2013 #14 Share Posted January 26, 2013 We are doing a b2b on the Triumph on 1-28. We have a pretty long drive to get to the port, so I really don't like 5 day cruises but I found I could do a b2b and get 10 days for not much more than a 7 day would have cost on the Magic. We'll see how it works out. Doug
