If I waned to get off the ship and just go to the best beach area, which beach would you recommend?

Thanks, Beth

How's this one look?

It's Crane beach on the opposite side of the island from where you dock. Perhaps a US$35 taxi ride for up to four in the cab.

It was voted one of the ten best beaches in the world by Conde Nast.

Limited swimming (undertow) and little, if any, snorkeling, but the best scenery you will find in most of the Caribbean.

Enjoy!

Mr Barbados, thank you for your recommendation. A few questions though.

Is there a place to buy drinks or food there?

Was that $35.00 for the taxi, each way, for a total of $70.00?

Thanks again!

The Crane Beach Hotel sits on this beach (behind the palms in the picture) and is a wonderful place to have drinks and lunch. Not cheap, but memorable, perhaps unforgettable. There are also a few vendors on the beach that offer drinks.

As we have had a vehicle now for a number of years, we don’t taxi much, but the rate was US$22/hour for up to four in the cab a few years ago.

Crane could take 45 minutes to one hour to get there, and the same to get back. So I guess around US$50 + tip for a round-trip excursion. But....

Might I suggest a 4 or 5 hour taxi tour? Go to the East Coast and see Andromeda Gardens, Bathsheba, St. John’s Parish Church and end up at The Crane for an hour or two (you won’t want to leave!). Then back to the ship or to Bombas Beach Bar, Weisers, Cocomos or The Boatyard for some good music, beach fun, great drinks.

These spots are on our West Coast, none more than 15 minutes from the dock. You can settle-up with your driver there and catch another cab back to the ship for $US5-10 when you are ready to return to the ship.

ALL the beaches are quite nice, but Crane is spectacular. If you don’t need spectacular, try Mullins, Folkstone, Paynes, Carlisle (west coast near the ship) or a few of the beaches on the South coast (still 15-20 minutes from the ship).

If you truly wish to experience the most beautiful beach you have ever seen, please take the time to see Crane.

The other West Coast beaches shouldn’t disappoint you, however, if your sights aren’t so high.

Barbados, a quick question about Carlisle Beach. You say it is near the ship, how far and is it a taxi ride or walk? Is there snorkeling there. Last time we visited your beautiful island we went to the Boatyard, not much in the way for snorkeling. We also took a 4x4 tour of the island which is breathtaking. Thanks for any info on a close to the pier snorkeling spot.

Barbados, This will be my first time to your island. I would love to get a 3 - 4 hour tour of the island, do some shopping, and relax at a beach for a couple of hours. What is the best way to accomplish everything that is both wonderful and affordable?

Valerie
