SailBabySail Posted February 2, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 2, 2013 Does anyone know if the Spirit will ever be back in NY? She was the ship we took our first cruise on and we would love to sail on her again. We always go out of NY because I won't fly. You all seem to have a handle on stuff like this so if anyone knows something please share. Thanks so much.
bob brown Posted February 2, 2013 #2 Share Posted February 2, 2013 Not very likely. Once the Jewel leaves New York this spring, she will be replaced by the new Breakaway to join fleetmate Gem. Those two will do most itineraries out of New York for the foreseeable future....
computerworks Posted February 2, 2013 #3 Share Posted February 2, 2013 The Spirit is now based in Europe year round. She will maintain that schedule at least until April of 2015
luddite Posted February 2, 2013 #4 Share Posted February 2, 2013 I would seriously doubt that the Spirit will return to New York. NCL has embraced the behemoyh ships and the NYC itinerary seems to be where they want the huge ships. Frankly, I wouldn't expect the Spirit to be in the NCL fleet in five years, which is a crying shame because the Spirit is a wonderful ship and size. The trend to giant ships is pretty icky. SailBabySail Posted February 2, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted February 2, 2013 I had a feeling your answers would be what they were. Thank you. We were just looking at our first cruise photos last night and now I'm grateful for those photos. I always take a lot of the ship we are on (just like everyone else). Sweet memories :)

I am not a fan of the big ships either. I would think, and it is only my opinion, that the personal touch would be lost.
