Embarkation on a two day cruise

Has anyone been on a short two day cruise out of Southampton. I am trying to find out if we drop our luggage at port side or whether we need to take it on ourselves. We will only have weekend case and suit bag for formal night. Also I understand the cabins are not ready until mid afternoon. On princess the cabins are ready once they start boarding at 12 noon. What do you do with your case while you wait, will we need to hike it around with us?

Thanks in advance

You put your case in the "hole in the wall" as for a longer cruise, it will arrive at your cabin anytime between 2 and 4 normally. Obviously anything you carry on will need to be lugged around unless you take it to your cabin after you have had lunch and providing your cabin steward isn't still working on your cabin, which is pretty unlikely.

Enjoy

We always drop off our hand luggage in the cabin no matter what time we embark, and always before the cabins are deemed ready. The cabin steward won't mind. The only thing "not ready" about it might be some literature, or extra towels/cups, etc.
