They've just banned smoking in all bars in this Canadian Province. Much screaming. Human rights/second hand smoke issue. It will all die down, and everyone will forget when smoke-filled rooms were "normal". Remember smoking in the first 17 rows while flying? Ah, the good old days. Who could have imagined smoke-free flying, afterall all those nervous flyers will just decide to drive. Yea, right.

The flip side of this happens too. I'm a non-smoker, but I still go to the Casino and lounges, and I expect it to be 'smokey', but try to avoid direct contact. Several times the opposite of what you mentioned above has happened to me. I'll scope the place out, find a place to play and some will sit right next to me (even when there are other open machines and/or chairs) and light up AND hold their cig away from them in MY direction. :mad: BTW, why do people hold their cigs away from themselves???? So the smoke doesn't go in their face?

Yes, that's exactly right although no person who has any consideration for others would do that if someone else were sitting near them.

How I wish there would be a no-smoking bar in Ohio. You go to a restaurant and you are placed in the non-smoking section, next to a wall that doesn't go to the ceiling and doesn't extend from one wall to the other, for the smokers. The smoke that gets through is terrible. I cannot enjoy a meal in what is supposed to be a non-smoking area of a restaurant.

Hop on I-71 and come up to Columbus. All non-smoking: bars, restaurants, bowling alleys, any public place. Some of the suburbs have followed suit, others not.

Some have hybrid laws like Hilliard. Bars can apply for exclusion by showing that 60% of their sales are from alcohol.

This is very funny. I guess being a relatively new poster, you have yet to realize that if every smoking thread was shut down immediately, about one quarter of all the posts would be eliminated.

And then if they shut down every formal night, chair hogging and no kids thread, you would be looking at an empty site.

If you are going to stick around, get used to often being very, very bored.
