adult beverage package

What is this adult beverage package and how do you get it? Cruising on the Glory in March, would like to get this for our trip.

If it's available on the ship you are on you purchase it (the Cheers program) on the ship at either the Lobby, Casino or Main pool bars on the 1st or 2nd day of the cruise.

The cost is $42.95 per day and all people over the age of 21 in the same cabin must buy it NO EXCEPTIONS.

If you purchase it while the ship is still in port you have to pay sales tax. The gratuity is also included. You cannot purchase it for a single day.

You can be served up to 15 drinks per day that have a value of less than $10. You can't order doubles, buckets of beer, bottles of wine etc...

Look on Carnival.com for details of the Cheer's program.

I thought you could buy a bottle of wine on the Cheers package and receive a 25% discount.

You can, but that's kind of an add on. The program itself is the 15 alcoholic drinks per 24 hours (6a - 6a), plus soda's and virgin frozen drinks that do not count toward your 15 limit.

But they certainly don't want to discourage people from purchasing a wine program or nice bottle in the MDR......just good luck getting served, the service in the MDR is painfully slow...........

I thought it was 42.95 PLUS gratuity?

I understand that all guests need to purchase the cheers program but I am wondering if a person was unable to drink alcohol due to medication or some other documented health issue would carnival relax that rule?

It's my understanding that it's all persons in the same room that are 21 and older (no exceptions regardless of health issues, pregnancy, etc).

I emailed Carnival because I'm currently breastfeeding so will not be drinking alcoholic beverages and avoid most caffine, but my husband is interested. I received a response back that said the Cheers Package can be purchased individually. So maybe depending on the circumstances?

I would ask again and see if you got the same response.

And then it's spin the wheel to see what they do in board.

You do not pay tax on the Cheers package when in home port, only on the drinks you buy when in home port.

I called up customer service yesterday in a panic. This is our first time sailing on Carnival so I really wasn't sure on this package. When I read several times "Everyone 21 or older in the cabin MUST purchase the Cheers program" I freaked out. The way I read it was that it didn't matter if you were going to drink or not, you HAD to buy it. So glad I called LOL I felt such an idiot. (but I was *this* close to canceling our cruise with them if I was being forced into buying $600 worth of alcohol lmao)

The rep I had did say that it normally is, in fact, if one person buys it everyone buys it. HOWEVER, you can go and speak to customer service on board and explain your situation. Like everything else, they can always make an exception.

The website says the Cheer's program cost $42.95 per day + gratuities (don't know what the "gratuities" is), but even if it cost $50 per day with the gratuities, it's a good deal:

From the Carnival website ... A 16oz bottle of Budweiser costs $5.75

Buy 15 of them, and the price is $86.25

Even at $50, the Cheer's program is alot cheaper than $86.25

The cost is $42.95 per day + 15% gratuity, comes out to roughly $49.40 per day. Just got off the Breeze last Saturday and was on the Cheers program.

That's about what I thought.

And I bet that that bottle of 16oz Bud that costs $5.75 actually costs $6.61 after they add the 15% on it.

So, at $6.61 x 15 beers, that will cost you $99.15

About double the cost of the $49.40 Cheer's program!

I wonder ....... If two adults sharing a room (different S&S accounts) and only one wants to buy into the Cheers program, would that single person be able to still purchase and pay double? I guess then the limit would be bumped to 30 drinks a day!! Even at double the price, it would still be a savings for some drinkers, who drink $10 drinks!

I added all my drink receipts up at the end of my cruise and I saved over $300 with the cheers program!!!

Did you get value for that money? Did you find you drank up to 15 drinks and on port days... did you find you got your value?

So we are leaving out of Baltimore. If we buy the Cheers program do we pay taxes on the total for the 7 days or just the one day?

You do not pay tax on the Cheers package. Carnival will collect taxes for the individual drinks you order while still in port (Approx. 20 - 40 cents depending on your state tax rates).

You are right I'm wrong. I went back and calculated my 2nd week on the Breeze (an 8 day cruise) and the total charge on my S&S account was $790.28 which works out to $687.20 for the daily charge and $103.08 for the 15% gratuity.....no tax involved.

I wonder, do you also not pay tax when purchasing the Bottomless Bubbles plan before the ship sails?
