Comparison of Oceania and Regent

Yes - priority tendering for all those with "gold" cards which I believe means Oceania, Vista and Owners suites... at least this is true on the Riviera. And it is done so subtlly I doubt it can offend ... even the "die hard" fearers of class consciousness on the Regent boards!!

I did not notice any "discrimination" or "preferential treatment" because I was in an Oceania suite aside from the boarding process where the suites were called up first and the aforesaid tender policy. Yes you do get to make 2 - not "multiple" - dinner reservations per restaurant and also you get priority on excursion booking (but the Oceania also gets your money earlier...) Once outside the suite all men (and women) are created equal!!

Oh yes - there was one other thing but it hardly will concern any Americans! We had to go through US Immigration in Key West and the authorities boarded the ship to "process us". All peons like me (ie Non US nationals...) were told to go to Horizons for clearance. Which I did. On arrival we showed our suite cards to have our passports returned to us, then were to queue for an available official. I showed my card. Got my passport and a staff member asked me to please go with him. We waited together on the side. The moment an official was free he took me to him and said "Mrs Thompson needs her passport stamped sir". So I suppose I by passed a queue of 5 or so people. it was all done so smoothly and quietly that I don't think anyone noticed... It was very funny too because the Immigration chap asked me where my husband was and my reply was "He has a US passport... and I don't know who is the sheep or who the goat but we are separated for this process". The Officer roared with laughter and said that he certainly wouldn't know either!! All in all a very pleasant experience.

What a comprehensive and helpful review - thank you!

We have been on a couple HAL cruises, on one Sun a zillion years ago, one Oceania cruise (Marina) and are now booked on another (Nautica.)

I've gotten a ton of material from Regent, and was wondering how the two would do in a side-by-side.

So this was really informative.

Thanks again.

Steve
